One week has passed since Shuris battle with Namor. The fight still vivd and alive in her memory. One week has passed since she made him yield to her. But the feeling of rage and hatred is still fresh and alive inside her heart. No matter how much she wanted to give in and end him right there, all defenseless, laying on the ground beneath her feet all burnt and dry, in the end she couldn't.
"Show him who you are"
"And I will not let vengeance consume me"
Remembering those words from her mother and brother, it prevented her from impaling Namors heart with his own spear. Knowing if she did give in, her mother and brother would be very disappointed in her that she answered to vengeance. Especially her brother, knowing how it consumed him and almost overpowered his conscious when facing Killmonger. But she didn't. She let the Mayan god live another day.
But there was also one more thing that Namor said, that she keeps replaying in her memory,
"It could have been different..."
Hearing those words from him, made her question everything about their fight.
"Could there have been another solution?"
"Did we get ahead of ourself?"
"Why did it have to turn out this way?"
She questioned throughout this whole week. Hearing those words have been eating her alive ever since, preventing her from concentrating when she would be at her lab, a place that always makes her have a peace of mind, for once, feel agitated.
She has questions and she will get answers to help her find some clarity.
Shuri stands by the river where she first met him. Dressed in a long jade colored silk dress that is held by very thin straps. The way the fabric flows down to her feet, hugs her lithe figure, the neckline of the dress revealing a good amount of her chest and the entirety of her back being exposed. Her micro braided hair up in a ponytail with two strands of braids down on the sides one her face.
"Why in basts name did I wear this?"
She knows the reason why she wore it. Jade being a predominant color among his kingdom, she thought it would help to provide him some serene feeling instead of a lingering rage that he probably still has within the moment she calls him. And also wearing his mothers bracelet that he gave to her.
She sighs. Time to get this over with. She takes a few steps forward and stops where the water meets her ankles.
Shuri holds the conch shell that he gave her up to her lips and blows.
No sound.
"Maybe it doesn't work. Then again, I've never got a chance to use it since it wasn't necessary or needed."
She says to herself.
Another sigh escapes her lips.
Few minutes have passed, head down, feeling slightly disappointed. She was about to turn away till she heard a small ripple across from her. She looks up and sees him standing there. The same spot where they first met.
Namor starts to walk closer, causing the waters of the river to have small waves.
He stops as he got close to her. Just enough of space between them. She can see water droplets falling down at the ends of his hairs, down to his face, sliding down the deep scratch that she made from her claws on his right side cheek, to his vibranium neckpiece that's covered in stones and pearls, and down to his muscular smooth chest.
