These last few years have been a lot,
So we should thank the front-liners who stayed and fought
Along with our teachers who taught
Us, in spite of our attitudes.
Parents, thank you for putting clothes on our backs,
Making up some of the strength we lack,
Being there when the odds begin to stack,
And giving us delicious food.
Family, thank you for sticking around.
Whether you're the ones we found
Or are blood-bound
To, your laughs and jokes still light up the room.
Relationships should also be celebrated,
Even though they can become complicated
Or grow to be cold and outdated.
Some of them still held on and made it through.
God, thank you for being yourself
And giving us good spiritual health.
Please help us find our sense of self
And remind us to walk in gratitude.
This Thanksgiving,
When you sit at the table,
Remind yourself to keep on living
And that there's at least one reason to be grateful.

(Note: I originally wrote this for a Thanksgiving service at school, hence to the ending. lol)
