General info

The Employers, shown in Madness: Project Nexus 2, are a mysterious organization. The four members of the organization that have been shown (Auditor, Deliberator, Conductor, Stygian) belong to a species of black silhouette-like humanoids with varying eye colors. They all look the same, with the exception of their eye colors.

The name and origin of the species is unknown, however, it is known that this species and the 'grunts' or Nevadeans, the main species shown in the series, are not the same. The two species do share some similarities, though: both species have the same body proportions (round or oval head, rectangular torso, feet directly attached to the torso with no legs, and hands without arms that are not attached to the body and float near it) and do not have hair (with a few exceptions) or ears.

Theory

Stygian is an impostor who had infiltrated the ranks of the Employers to eventually betray them. He would gain their trust through partnering with them. After getting their trust, he would then kill them and consume their bodies and souls to strengthen himself. He would also take the Auditor's Improbability Drive. After killing the other Employers, he would take control of the Agency Against Hank Wimbleton.
Stygian would also kill Jebediah Christoff, as he has a hatred towards him due to his desire to restore peace in Nevada. The reason why Stygian does not want peace restored is because of the fact that he enjoys violence and bloodshed. When there's violence, there's death. And with an endless stream of deaths, he also gets endless souls and corpses to consume to increase his power.

Evidence

§1. Differences from the other Employers

Out of all the Employers, Stygian's color is the only one that is not a primary color (primary colors: red, yellow, blue, black, white). Auditor is red, Conductor is blue, Deliberator is white, and Stygian is magenta.

He is also the only one who's name is not a formal term that ends with -tor.

§2. Other Employers' Name Meanings

The meaning of 'Auditor' is a person who conducts an audit, which is a business affair.
The meaning of 'Deliberator' is a person who deliberates (engages in long and careful consideration or a lengthy thought process).
The meaning of 'Conductor' is either a person who directs the performance of an orchestra or choir or a person who sells tickets on a bus and collects the money earned from their sale.

§3. 'Stygian' Name Meaning

The meaning of Stygian is very disturbing. It refers to either the river Styx in Greek mythology (it is a mythical river that separates the world of the living from the world of the dead) or to something that is very dark, grim, or frightening.

§4. Stygian Summoned by Demoniac Cultists

In a level in Madness: Project Nexus 2's Arena Mode known as 'The Haunting of Nevada House', an occult group known as the Demoniacs attempts to summon Stygian to destroy Nevada. This is peculiar, considering the fact that there must be a reason why they were trying to summon specifically Stygian and not some other Employer. It is not known what kind of ties Stygian has to this organization, as the Demoniacs have almost no information about them.

§5. The Relationship Between Stygian and Jebediah Christoff

In the ending cutscene of Madness: Project Nexus 2, the Employers appear before Jebediah Christoff. It is noticeable that Stygian is the main speaker during their conversation. He berates and insults Jebediah, claiming that the things going on in Nevada are 'above his primitive understanding' and calls him a 'worm'. It is unknown why specifically Stygian is so rude towards Jebediah, as nothing is known about their relationship.

§6. Stygian's 'Purpose'

Stygian's purpose is said to be transporting S-3LFs (the Madness Combat universe's equivalent of souls) between Nevada and the Other Place, which is the Madness Combat universe's underworld (presumably Hell). He seems to also be capable of destroying S-3LFs, even though he has never been shown to do this.

§7. The Employers Devour Corpses and Souls

The Auditor has been shown consuming corpses to increase his size and strength. This seems to be an innate ability of the Employers and not an ability granted by the Improbability Drive, due to the fact that the other Improbability Drive wielders (such as Tricky and the Sheriff) aren't capable of this. Since the S-3LFs of the people whose corpses the Auditor has consumed don't reappear and aren't shown floating away or being taken away, it is obvious that the Auditor consumes not only his victims' corpses, but also their souls.
If this is an innate ability of the Employers, all the other Employers are capable of this as well, which means that Stygian is capable of this for sure. This means that he can not only transport S-3LFs between dimensions, but also consume them.

§8. Unknown Reason For Alliance With Employers

It is unknown why Stygian has joined the Employers, as he doesn't get any kind of benefit from allying with them. A counter-argument to this could be that it is unknown why any of the Employers chose to ally with each other, although, judging by what we have seen, it is largely a business cooperation. Since Stygian is not a businessman, but is rather some kind of god of death, it is strange that he has decided to partner up with the Employers, who are probably way weaker than him.

Conclusion

There is quite a lot of evidence to support this theory, however, there is some evidence to disprove it. One of the main pieces of evidence to disprove this theory is the fact that there is not enough evidence to support it, but, there is also not enough evidence to disprove it, so, the lack of evidence can also be used to support this theory.

Summarized Conclusion

There is not enough evidence to prove nor disprove this theory.
