My phone woke me up dahil sa sunud-sunod na pag-ring nito. Hindi ko nakitang maigi kung sino dahil kakamulat ko lang at sobrang liwanag ng ilaw galing sa phone at liwanag na tumatagos sa mga kurtina ng bintana.

"Hello?" I said in a husky voice.

"Anak, I am sorry. Did I awaken you?"

"Yes, ma, but it's okay. 8am na rin naman." nilingon ko naman si Aleina na nakayakap sakin. She looked tired.. Well, I made her tired. I smiled for that thought.

"Anak, we are already home.  Can you come home with Aleina later for dinner?"

"Oh? Thank God you're all safe. Sure, ma. Gusto mo bang mag-stay kami for a  night na rin, ma?"

"Anak... May hindi ako sinabi sayo. All of your cousins' with us. Your ate Rose, Kuya Bart, Seline and.. Jasmine."

Bigla akong kinabahan. Lahat sila nandito. Kaya naman mas lalo kong ipinagpilitang doon na kami mag-stay ng gabi.

"Who's that, hon?" pagtatanong ni Aleina ng hindi nagmumulat ng mga mata.

"Hey.. Good morning, beautiful." I kissed her forehead that made her smile and open her eyes.

"Good morning, handsome.." umusod naman sya pataas at hinalikan ako sa pisngi. "Sino 'yon? Si Tita Irene?"

Tumango ako. "Nandito na sila.. She's inviting us to come for dinner and stay for the night.."

"Ohh. We should prepare and cook something to bring with us! Magluto tayong Menudo mamaya, hon?"

"Show-off kay Mama? Psh. No need na, botong-boto na sila sayo.." kinurot ko naman ang pisngi nya.

"Sabi mo, they're with your Uncles and Aunties and your cousins? So, we should---"

"Ssh.. Hon, take it easy, ok? Maraming pagkain doon mamaya. Ang ihanda mo na lang ay ang sarili mo."

She pouted. "I'll bring clothes."

"Hon! There are plenty of your clothes sa bahay, sa mismong cabinet ko! Kumalma ka nga."

"Will they like me?"

"Sure will, hon.." hindi ko lang alam kay Jasmine. Will she like you?

Dumating kami sa bahay at sinalubomg kami ni Mama at Papa. Agad yumakap si Aleina kay Papa. Mas close kasi sila nito kaysa kay Mama kaya nag-aasaran sila paratin but in a good way naman.

"Tito, how was your vacation? Do you have my pasalubong?"

"I enjoyed it.. You should come too next time. Maybe when you two are already married. Your pasalubong? Let's go inside.." akbay ni Papa dito.

Pinanuod namin silang pumasok.

"They're so close.."

"Yes.. And it makes me whim suddenly to have a baby girl.."

"Ma, naman."

"Dapat girl ang first born--"

"Dapat lalake, ma. Tapos babae.. Mas ideal samin ni Aleina ang kuya kaysa sa ate, ma."

"Okay.. Okay.. Let's go inside na."

"Nasan naman sila tito? Gusto kong makakulitan si Kuya Bart."

Pagkapasok namin ay nakita kong nakaupo at nakasandal ang ulo ni James sa sofa. He's probably sleeping.

"Nasa taas. Nagpapahinga pa rin, tatawagin ko na sila pababa kapag naayos ko na ang kusina.." napansin rin ni mama ang paglingon ko kay kuya. "And as for your kuya, nag-ayos at namili muna kami ng iiihaw na barbecue tonight at nasa 4th hour pa lang sya ng pagtulog."

Lumapit ako kay Kuya at dumiretso na sa kusina si Mama. Tinapik ko sya at nagitla naman ito.

"Bro.." tawag nya.

"Kuya.. I'm sorry--"

"No. Ako dapat ang mag-sorry. I should've moved on a very long time ago.." nilingon nya ako at bahagya syang umiling. "You're so lucky, man.. But I am happy for you."

"I guess, I really am lucky. Can you do me a favor?"

"Anything.."

"Ok na kami ni Aleina. Sobrang ok na. I know  you had her once, you even loved her.. I am not telling you to move on because I know it's not that easy.. I am asking you to at least try."

"I am already trying, Jc. Don't worry.."

"And can you at least tell me your story with Aleina?"

"Are you sure of what---" I cut him by nodding.

"I was at Ampersand that time, actually with Jared.. But Jared left that very night for his flight the next day. And then here comes Abi dancing so wild that night.. Her friend cannot stop her anymore. Kahit yung mga Dj doon. Then I heard she's got a brokenheart with the former Dj of that superclub.. I have no intention to get at her but she did. She gave me motives but I know she's already drunk. We went outside for fresh air. She asked for my number and we had a little conversation.. Then she aked me to drive her home but before I could say no, she passed out. Gusto ko sanang pumasok ulit sa loob noon para kausapin yung mga kaibigan nya pero they are wasted, so I tried talking to her friends at the booth but they cannot accompany me since they were busy.  Then I found myself driving her home, to my condo.." he stopped and took a glance at me. "Behave ako, bro. Sa sofa ako natulog pero nagising na lang ako sa halik nya. You know. I couldn't resist cause she was really tempting. There, we made it. After nun bigla na lang syang nawala, hinintay ko sya sa Amper pero walang Abi. Abi lang yung pinakilala nyang pangalan sakin and that's that. How I ever wonder that falling inlove in just one night is possible.. Then after years, hindi ako makapaniwala. Nagpakilala ka ng babae bilang girlfriend, itinira sa condo, bumili ng sariling bahay at ipinakilala mo pang fiancee mo.. Yung babaeng minahal ko. I was mad and jealous kaya nagawa ko 'yun ng gabing iyon. That was so stupid. But I can't lost my brother.."

Yun yung hinihintay kong sabihin nya. He can't lost me. We hugged. We barely do this.. But it felt nice.

"I am sorry.."

"Let's forget about it.. Okay na tayong lahat."

Nagtawanan pa kami ni Kuya nung nakarinig kami ng isang mahinang paglalakad pababa. Nanlaki ang mga mata ko ng tumakbo ito pababa ng makita ako. She hugged me and kissed me..

"Kuya Cal! I missed you.. How could you do that? You left me without a word! But I'm okay now.." narinig ko ang hikbi nya habang yakap nya ako.

Tinapik ako ni Kuya at dahan-dahan nyang inihiwalay sakin si Jasmine. "Jasmine, your kuya need to get to her Fiancee.. Sige na, Jc. Puntahan mo na sa kusina."

"But--"

"Ok.. Thanks, kuya."
