"Been watching them for weeks. And see, "Dumbledore's Army" proof of what I've been telling you right from the beginning, Cornelius. All your fear-mongering about You-Know-Who never fooled us for a minute," Umbridge said to the minister as Harry, Cho and I were dragged into Dumbledore's office with some ministry officials with her.
"We saw your lies for what they were: A smokescreen for your bid to seize control of the Ministry," Umbridge continued.
"Naturally," Dumbledore said.
"No, professor. He had nothing to do with it. It was me," Harry said as I looked at Draco with disappointment.
"Most noble of you, Harry, to shield me, but as has been pointed out the parchment clearly says
"Dumbledore's Army," not "Potter's," I instructed Harry to form this organization. And I, and I alone, am responsible for its activities," Dumbledor said as Draco saw me and refused to meet my gaze."Dispatch an owl to the Daily Prophet. If we hurry, we should still make the morning edition. Dawlish, Shacklebolt, you will escort Dumbledore, to Azkaban, to await trial for conspiracy and sedition," Fuge said.
"Ahhh I thought we might hit this little snag. You seem to be labouring under the delusion that I'm going to... What was the phrase? ...come quietly. Well, I can tell you this, I have no intention of going to Azkaban," Dumbledore said.
"Enough of this. Take him," Umbridge said as dumbledor gives us a wink and then disappears in a burst of flames.
"Well, you may not like him, minister... but you can't deny... Dumbledore has got style," Shacklebolt said.
After Dumbledore left Umbridge completely took over and of course, Dumbledore's Army was put through her punishment and then came the new rules, "Boys and girls are not permitted to be within eight inches of each other. Those wishing to join the Inquisitorial Squad for extra credit... Students will be submitted to questioning about suspected illicit activities. Any student in noncompliance will be expelled," It was horrible.
"Harry. You did everything you could. No one could win against that old hag. Even Dumbledore didn't see this coming," I said trying you make him feel better.
"Harry, if it's anyone's fault, it's ours," Hermine said.
"Yeah, we talked you into it," Ron said.
"Yeah, but I agreed. I tried so hard to help, and all it's done is make things worse. Anyway, that doesn't matter anymore. Because I don't want to play anymore. All it does is make you care too much. And the more you care, the more you have to lose. So maybe it's just better to..." Harry said.
"To what?" I said harshly knowing what he meant.
"To go it alone," Harry said and I turn away in disappointment making me see something
"Hagrid," I said confused.
"Any idea where he's taking us?" Ron said as we followed Hagrid into the forest.
"Hagrid, why can't you just tell us?" I said as a pack of centaurs ran past us a few feet away.
"I've never seen the centaurs so riled. And they're dangerous at the best of times. The Ministry restricts their territory much more, they'll have a full uprising on their hands," Hagrid said.
"Hagrid, what's going on?" Hermione said.
"I'm sorry to be so mysterious, you lot. I wouldn't be bothering you at all with it, but with Dumbledore gone... I'll likely be getting the sack any day now. And I just couldn't leave without telling someone about him," Hagrid said.
"Tell us about who exactly," I said as we came across a giant.
"Grawpy. Down here, you great buffoon. Grawpy. Brought you some company. I couldn't just leave him, because... Because he's my brother," Hagrid said.
"Blimey," Ron said.
"Well, half-brother, really. He's completely harmless, just like I said. Little high-spirited, is all. Grawpy, that is not polite," Hagrid said Grawpy pick up Hermione.
"Hagrid, do something," Ron said.
"We talked about this. You do not grab, do you? That's your new friend, Hermione. Grawpy," Hagrid said.
"Grawp. Put me down. Now," Hermione said.
"You all right?" I said.
"Fine. Just needs a firm hand, is all," Hermione said.
"I think you've got an admirer," Harry said as Grawpy gave her a bike bell.
"You just stay away from her, all right?" Ron said.
"He gets his own food and all. It's company he'll be needing when I'm gone. You will look after him, won't you? I'm the only family he's got," Hagrid said.
"We will don't worry Hagrid won't let you down," I said Hermione nodding with me.
The next few days went all that bad well not as bad as we expected them to be we just went about our daily business of class, meal time and doing whatever it took to avoid Umbridge. I would also occasionally catch the twins in heated hushed conversation with one another and clearly, they were planning something big. Since the room of requirement was no longer a secret Hermione and I had to find somewhere new to be alone with each other where Umbridge wouldn't find us. Sadly nowhere on school grounds fit the bill apart from the common room but that isn't exactly very privet either.
"Your hand okay," I said as the two of us did some last-minute studying in the Libary for our O.W.Ls as we didn't expect Umbrif to lay fair.
"It's healing," Hermione said.
"I'm sorry," I said.
"Why?" Hermione said.
"Because I promised to protect you and now look," I said.
"Hey hey this is not your fault, no matter what you are not to blame for this and never will be," Hermione said as she placed her wounded hand on mine.
"Thanks," I said.
"Always," Hermione said.
