Secrets, Lies, and Paying a Visit to a Certain Werewolf

Crystal entered Ash's room to see her brother staring out the window, his knuckles turning white from how tightly he was gripping the window frame. "You alright, Ash?"

Ash turned around to face her, relaxing a little when he realized that it was just her returning with an ice pack. "Yeah, just annoyed with... that guy."

"You mean Derek Hale?" Crystal clarified, handing him the ice pack.

Ash looked at her in surprise. "How do you know who he is?"

Crystal arched an eyebrow. "It's not that hard to figure out, especially when you do your research. Plus you've mentioned him before, so I decided to look him up."

"When did I do that? And why would you look him up?" Ash questioned, placing the ice pack on his eye as he spoke.

Crystal shrugged. "That first day after school. You met him in the woods? Called him 'creepy', if I remember correctly. And I got bored one day and decided to look up the history of Beacon Hills. There's a lot of weird stuff that happens in this town."

"Yeah, you can say that again," Ash agreed, sitting on the edge of his bed and letting out a sigh.

"Derek have anything to do with why you were out so late last Friday?"

Ash looked up at her in surprise. "Why would you think that?!"

"Well, for starters, you look really alarmed by my suggestion, and you obviously don't like him. And I get the feeling it's more than an 'Alpha male' thing," Crystal responded. "You're still not going to tell me what really happened that night, are you?"

"No," Ash shook his head. "I can't."

"Alright," Crystal said, turning and heading out of his room. "But you know I'm going to figure it out eventually."

Ash watched her walk out of the room, before sighing and falling back on his bed. He knew Crystal would eventually figure it out, he just hoped it would take her a really, really long time.

Crystal sighed as she got off her brother's bike, taking her helmet off and heading into the school, ignoring the sigh that she heard from her brother as she left. She had only found out that morning that Ash had lost his helmet. She couldn't help the surge of anger that rushed through her. He had lost it Friday night and had forgotten to look for it.

Crystal rolled her eyes, shaking her head as she headed to her locker. It was annoying how much had changed since their Dad had disappeared, especially with how Ash had taken to lying a lot recently.

She exchanged her books out, sliding the books she needed into her backpack, before closing her locker. She turned to head to her English class, but stopped short when she came face to face with Lydia Martin, the most popular girl in school and the girlfriend to one Jackson Whittemore.

"You're Crystal, Ash's sister right?" Lydia asked, tilting her head as she looked Crystal up and down.

Crystal nodded, slinging her backpack over her shoulder.

"Nice boots. Where'd you get them?" Lydia asked, causing Crystal to look down at the black studded lace up combat boots she was wearing.

"Um... my father got them for me for my birthday a couple years back," Crystal told her, shifting on her feet uncomfortably. "I don't know where he got them. A store somewhere in New York, most likely."

"Your father has a good eye, for a man," Lydia remarked, smiling as she saw Jackson heading towards her.

"Yeah," Crystal nodded, looking down at the memory of her Dad. "He did."
