"I know you love me. You always have."
Her heart whispered as she looked at him. Contentment vivid on her face.
"I know you are not like those other men. You could never be."
She looked down as the policeman locked the handcuffs on her wrists.
"Neither am I like those other women. At least not anymore."

She looked back at him one last time before they took her away. Eyes red under those dark hair of his. Hair she never fell in love with. Oh how she wish she did. She could see the tears in his eyes, almost falling. Men don't cry. But he would. He never seemed to be a product of this society. A miracle, really. He was a miracle.

She passed him one last smile. Reassurance. He kept looking at her with pleading eyes. She knew what they said. "Please don't go."
But she had to. Shackled. But free. Finally free. And she deserved to enjoy this freedom, relish in it, bathe in it! She earned it.

One last glance at her face before they took her away. The whole time, his eyes kept searching for something, at least a little bit of something. Remorse, guilt, pachtawa, dukh....afsos? He found none. He only saw one thing. Sukoon. She was finally in peace.

He should have hated her. Even searched for it in his heart. For hate. But he couldn't. She had killed his brother for God's sake!  Murdered him in cold blood. But he did not. He loved her. Always had. Maybe always will.
