I have to say I was momentarily blinded. Treasuring my vision, I shut my eyes.

Around me I could hear the campers.

"Not another one..."

"Oh Gods..."

"She doesn't come off as a brat though."

And Sybil's voice triumphed all the others.

"What is THIS? What does it mean? Can someone please explain? Chiron?"

By now, curiosity has bubbled inside me to the point of exploding. Slowly, I opened my eyes, just in time to catch a glimpse of a pink glow over Sybil's head fade away and disappear into thin air.

"What was it?" I whispered to Annabeth, who was standing next to me now with an unreadable expression.

She turned her head but kept her eyes trained on Sybil. "It's called claiming. When a god or goddess claims a demigod to be his or her child."

I gasped. "I see. Who was it?"

Sybil had gone to Raina, who were talking in a hushed tone. Chiron, who had apparently given her time to process what had just happened, finally spoke at last.

"All hail Sybil, daughter of Aphrodite, goddess of love."

Percy clapped while everyone else simply stared with - what was that? Disgust? I'm sure it was, but I couldn't understand why there was so much hatred towards Sybil when none existed pre-claiming.

I just hope I get claimed soon.
