"Hey, 154, do you want beef or lamb today?" 922 asked, peering into the fridge. 154 just waved him off, flipping the page of his book, "Whichever you want."

"I'm asking because I don't know." 922 sighed, "Normally I'd ask Boss when I'm indecisive, but he's not here right now..."

"Roll a die or something. Or flip a coin." 154 groaned, engrossed in his book.

"Why isn't he here anyways? Another examination to invigilate?"

"He's in a meeting with 009. Something about them both being responsible for exams in China so it's mandatory to meet up at least twice a year even though there's nothing to discuss." 154 sighed, wedging a bookmark between the pages and putting the book down, "Didn't I tell you yesterday?"

"I was probably distracted." 922 admitted, yanking the container of beef out of the fridge, "And I don't have ears like you. You can hear all the invigilation and violation warnings even in the bathroom where there's no speakers. I stick my head into the laundry machine to make sure it's empty and I'm suddenly deaf."

154 just sighed; this was about on par for 922.

"Anyways, he'll be back in soon. There's another exam we have to invigilate later." 154 sighed, "It's a long one, around two weeks long."

"Please tell me it's not on a boat." 922 grumbled, "I hate the invigilator's quarters that are on boats."

"Tell me about it." 154 muttered, already seasick at the thought, "I think this one is a Biology Examination, though. No boats. I think the boss hates the boat ones too. He never picks those."

It was one of the many perks about being the two subordinates that 001 liked to bring everywhere; while he had many invigilators under him with good rankings, for some odd reason, 001 preferred to take 154 and 922 with him whenever he had to invigilate an exam that required more than one invigilator.

Their personalities were all completely different. 001 could be the scariest motherfucker ever or a complete pain in the ass, depending on his mood, 154 was calm, quiet but also very straightforward and didn't sugarcoat things, and 922 was generally pretty easy to get along with.

Some found their dynamic a little odd, but in some ways, it turned out rather nicely, and they worked together like a well-oiled machine.

"Who likes staying on a boat for days on end?" 922 muttered, slightly queasy himself, "I can understand if the examination center itself is a boat... but if the examination takes place on an iceberg on a deserted island, can't the invigilator's quarters at least be more stable?"

"Who knows what the System is thinking half the time." 154 grumbled to himself. He was formerly a part of the System, and even he couldn't figure it out; it really did show just how dumb the System was at times.

"What was that?" The taller man turned around, but 154 just shook his head, "Nothing. Just cook Boss's portion too so he can eat when he's back."

"Ah, okay." 922 nodded, "Then I'll go pack later?"

"Pack what? Fine, I'll do the packing." 154 raised an eyebrow, "It's just some spare clothes. It won't take more than a minute."

"What about my portable chargers?"

"Charge it at the examination center or something!"

Like 154 said, it didn't take too long for 001 to come back from his "meeting".

Judging from his current mood, it was likely that, as usual, the meeting probably went something like: the System knows best, blah blah blah, Head Invigilators just have to be its hands and shouldn't have to think so much, just follow the rules, even more useless nonsense, the end.
