Chan has been away for weeks, but you know that he would never miss Valentine's Day.

Being the leader of Stray Kids, an internationally famous K-pop group, he is extremely busy. You accepted that reality when you began your relationship, but you can't deny that there are some times when you secretly wish he had never formed the group.

It's an evil wish, really. A selfish wish. You know that he loves singing and rapping, especially alongside the other members. But it is difficult to be alone and only have the ability to contact him through calls and texts.

However, you have put your faith in him and support his dreams valiantly, trusting that he would never forget you. He hasn't at all for the past few weeks, of course, but you're a bit worried because he said he would be home soon and Felix said he'd landed in South Korea an hour ago.

You nervously glance down at your phone, your feet beginning to tap anxiously as you scroll through your notifications with the hope that Felix has any news or Chan has told you what he's doing. It's almost eight, and the moon is out, shining boldly in the dark sky.

He'd never forget. Never.

You attempt to reassure your thoughts, knowing that Chan has been working so hard on tour and producing, so the last thing you know he needs is to have his girlfriend stressing over him arriving home late.

Finally, after five more minutes of stressful thoughts, you give into your worries and call Felix.

"Hello?" he answers after the second ring.

"Felix, have you heard from Chan at all? He's still not home? I'm worried."

"Hi!!" a new voice calls from the background. You smile slightly with recognition.

"Hi Hyunjin," you say. "Sorry to interrupt your guys night."

"It's fine, I understand you're worried, but you can trust Chan. He'll be home soon enough. He had a long flight, as you know," Felix says.

"I know, Lix, but is he safe? He's usually not this late, and you said that he landed an hour ago!" you reply anxiously.

"He's completely fine- Hyunjin, don't resume the movie! Sorry about that. I promise he'll be there. And if he's not within the next hour then ring me up again, okay?"

It doesn't sound too promising, but you decide to let Felix return to his movie and thank him before hanging up.

Not too long after that, as you are idly scrolling through TikTok, you hear the doorknob being turned and some struggling with the door.

"Hello? I'm so sorry I'm late, the airport was a mess and I-"

Chan, his brown curls a chaotic mess and his eyes tired and weary, walks into the living room with two suitcases, a duffle bag, and a small gift bag in hand. Despite his disheveled appearance, he still looks as handsome as ever and seems to be maintaining an upbeat attitude as he drops his luggage and stops to stare at you.

You forgot that you actually dressed up for his arrival; you had slipped into a simple yet sexy black dress and applied light makeup two hours prior, curling your long hair and even adding black heels to complete the look. Granted, you took off the heels thirty minutes ago and your hair is a bit messy from the number of times you've run your hand through it in distress, but his reaction is still fitting.

"Wow," he stammers, "you look incredible. I-I'm so sorry, truly. I hope it's not too late. Happy Valentine's Day, love."

You smile softly at his slight distress and awe. He looks immensely burned out and about to collapse, but he's still sweet and did his best, which is one of the biggest reasons why you love him. He's always doing what he can to make others happy, such as making music, putting everyone's well-being before his own. It's a blessing and a curse.

You pocket your phone and stand up to move towards Chan and give him a fierce hug that he instantly returns, tightly embracing your body and sighing in content. Dressed in a grey hoodie and loose black sweat pants, he looks quite comfy, and you make a mental note to steal the hoodie later with a smile.

"Happy Valentine's Day, Chris. I'm so happy you're here. I love you so much, and you're not late at all, I promise. It's never too late to come home to me."

Chan pulls back for a second to meet your eyes before pressing a sweet kiss to your lips, one that has been long awaited and makes you melt into his arms once again.

"Have you eaten?" you ask, pulling him onto the sofa to sit.

He nods. "Yeah, on the plane. Have you? I'm sorry I didn't it make it for dinner... We can still have a small one if you'd like."

You shake your head. "It's alright, Chris, I already ate as well. I'm just glad to see you in person now."

He smiles. "What would you like to do now, then?"

"We can watch a movie, if you'd like. Cuddle up and relax."

He raises an eyebrow at you. "Are you sure that's what you'd like to do? If you would like, we can..." His gaze finishes his sentence without question.

You laugh, smiling at Chan. "As much as that appeals to me, you clearly need rest, Chris. You've been running around so much lately and I'm honestly shocked that you're still awake right now. I love you and how considerate you are, but tonight can be a relaxed one."

He nods gratefully at you with a tired smile, pecking your cheek before standing up and grabbing the gift bag you saw earlier. He hands it to you.

"Before we settle down, I'd like to give this to you to show how much I love you because no amount of words can express how much you mean to me. When you walked into my life, it felt as though a piece of me finally clicked after being uncertain and awkward for so long. You have become one of the closest people to my heart and I have never been so happy when I'm with you. You have shown me new ways of life and allowed me to do the same to you, helping me grow as an individual and in our relationship. I know it's been hard as I'm constantly away but I hope you know that my love for you spans over any distance, no matter how far. I will always be here for you, even if it is not physically, and you will always be in my heart and on my mind regardless of where I am in the world. There are eight billion people on this planet, but there is only one of you and it makes you so special, particularly to me. I love you so much and I look forward to reminiscing the past, living in the present, planning for the future with you."

Your eyes well up with tears at his beautiful speech, as you stare into his. It's the most beautiful thing you've ever heard.

"Chris, I-I don't know how to respond. I don't think any words could do justice to explain how much I love you and how much I return every word you just said. I love you, I love you, I love you."

He smiles widely, glancing at the bag in your lap. "Well?"

You peer inside the bag which has a pattern of a mixture of red and pink hearts on a white background, moving the silver tissue paper out of the way to reveal a small box with a fancy label written in silver calligraphy engraved on it.

You glance up at Chris in awe, who is smiling in endearment as you open the box to find a simply silver chain with a wolf head charm on it. The wolf's eye is your gemstone, which truly makes it personal and one of the best gifts ever.

You immediately hug Chan as you exclaim, "This is gorgeous, thank you so much, Chris! How thoughtful of you!"

He buried his face in your hair, smiling. "I'm glad you like it."

"It's perfect. Just like you," you tell him softly. "My gift for you isn't coming for another two days, but I promise I ordered it two weeks ago and I believe it'll be worth the wait."

He smiles. "Well, I look forward to it. In the meantime, I have your company."

You and Chan lie down on the sofa to watch some cheesy rom-com, his face resting on your shoulder from behind while he occasionally mumbles that he loves you and you whisper it back.

Eventually, you hear soft snoring and realize he fell asleep a few minutes before the end of the movie where the main protagonist is declaring her love for the male love interest. It's a whole ordeal and done a bit overdramatically, but you can't deny that the feelings that the characters are pronouncing are quite relatable; love is sometimes that powerful.

You smile to yourself as the movie finishes and you turn the television off, dozing off in your lover's arms.
