Hi! Welcome to the first chapter! This is a Nobara Kugisaki x Mai Zenin fanfiction. The characters are from a manga/anime Jujutsu Kaisen by Gege Akutami. If you haven't seen or read it I sugest doing that first, it is really good!

General warnings for this book are swearing, guns and at least some violence (Nothing extreme tho). Individual warnings for other chapters will be in the authors notes, if needed.

Ohari is a made up village, as far as I'm aware.

"Why do I have to go on a mission with her?!" Nobara pointed a finger at the girl in front of her. Mai Zenin was the last person she wanted to share her workload with. She was the kind of girl, who was only cool in movies. Only if you didn't have to be the receiver of her insults and petty remarks. Who cares if Nobara was the same way? This was about Mai not her.

"It's a good match," Gojo said with his annoying smile, as if he'd be able to spot a good match. Surely not with the way he matched his clothes. His eyes were probably mocking her under his blindfold, "the witnesses said, that the curse is extremely venomous and can possibly kill you with a single touch. So what better than a sniper and a voodooist!" Gojo let out a breathy laugh. Maybe Nobara should get a new job. She recalled a local internet cafe having a poster about needing new employees.

"I'll leave you to it then," he said, "all you need is in the records. It's a semi-second grade curse, so you two should be able to handle it just fine."

Nobara shot him the best death-glare she could muster as he teleported to who knows where. He always did this, and he definitely knew what he was doing. She was left all alone with Mai now. Nobara redirected her look to the other girl.

"If you frown so much, it's no wonder your face is all wrinkly," Mai commented, while wrinkling her face herself, that bitch!

"If you talk so much shit it's no wonder you smell worse than a curse."

An uncomfortable silence followed. Nobara took out the report they had on the curse. The faster they're done with this mission, the better. Maybe she'll even have time to go to one of Kyoto's shopping districts. She's wanted to stop by at Shinkyogoku for a while. She had some stores to visit there.

"The report states that the curse was last seen in Ohari village. Its traces have been found all over dark alleyways," she put the record away, "I can't believe I'll have to spend my trip to Kyoto wandering around some shady village."

"A shady village suits you well."

"As if you're not the one carrying around a gun." That's another thing that's only cool in movies. In real life they make too much noise, just like Mai and her stupid mouth.

They got to the village quickly, since Gojo made sure to bring them right by it. Nobara didn't particularly like ruining her shoes by walking through mud, but the village wasn't crowded enough for a teleporting white haired man to go unnoticed. Even Nobara's dyed hair was unusual enough to get them some looks.

Nobara was immediately unnerved by the village. To a normal eye, it seemed just fine, but cursed traces were all over it. A single curse shouldn't have such a strong presence. Maybe it was a slime monster and the venom came in the form of slime?

"I'll go find a high place to locate the curse," Mai commanded, "you should try to locate it from the ground."

"Don't boss me around!" Nobara grabbed Mai by the back of her uniform, "I'm stronger than you, so I should be calling the shots."
