It was the first day of Summer vacation for the two sisters. Bloom and Y/n were sleeping in, enjoying the feeling of not going back to school for a good three or four months. That's when the two heard their mother calling out to them, trying to wake them up.
"Wake up, sleepy heads!" Vanessa called out, trying to wake up her daughters. "The sun's been up for ages!"
"Five more minutes, Mom," Bloom grumbled, wanting to stay in bed.
That's when Y/n got up, jolting away Willow, wanting to talk to her mother and father.
"Coming, Mother!" Y/n replied, getting out of bed and getting dressed after grabbing Willow's collar and leash.
As soon as Y/n came downstairs, Vanessa noticed that Bloom wasn't up yet.
"You're late, Bloom!" Vanessa shouted, hoping that she would've gotten Bloom up.
"School?!" Bloom shouted, scrambling to get ready. Then she ran downstairs to meet her mom, dad, and sister. "Oh no! Why didn't you wake me up before?! Oh, the alarm didn't go off! Oh no! I can't believe this!" That's when realization struck her. "The alarm didn't go off because we're on vacation! Oh, Mom, your joke isn't funny!"
"Haha!" Y/n laughed, while Willow jumped into her arms. "I thought that it was pretty funny, Bloom."
"Bloom," Vanessa said, trying to get Bloom to smile and laugh. "Ah, but you fell for it, didn't you?"
"I'm sleepy," Bloom yawned, turning to go back to her room. "I'm going back to bed."
"Oh, come on, Bloom!" Y/n countered. "You can't just want to spend the whole day sleeping!"
"You should try going to bed earlier, you know," Vanessa countered. "You were up really late last night."
"I was reading," Bloom replied.
"Fairies: Myth or Reality?" Vanessa asked, most likely knowing what book Bloom was reading. "Urgh, don't you ever get tired of these silly things?"
"They're not silly, okay?" Bloom said, trying to convince her mother that fairies and magic were real. "I mean, look at Y/n. She had magical powers."
"I... I never wanted..." Y/n stuttered, her voice dwindling to a barely audible whisper. "I never wanted to have this magic. I... I hurt myself."
But Vanessa pretended to have never heard what Y/n had said.
"Actually, now that school is over," Vanessa said, trying to get the conversation away from Y/n's magic, knowing that it's such a sensitive topic for her. "You two can help me in the shop!"
"Noooo!!" Bloom whined.
That's when Y/n looked at her adopted mother, grateful for turning the conversation away from her magic.
"Thank you, Mother," Y/n mouthed out, unable to express how thankful she is towards her adopted mother.
"You're welcome, Y/n," Vanessa mouthed back.
That's when the three walked into the kitchen to see Mike sitting at the kitchen table.
"Good morning, sunshine, princess!" Mike greeted his two daughters.
"I'm not going to spend my summer working in the shop!" Bloom whined. "I wish I could go somewhere fun with my friends!"
"I have fun working in the shop," Y/n whimpered.
"When you're older you can go wherever you want," Mike said, trying to cheer up Bloom.
"How old is older?" Bloom asked. "I'm already 16 and Y/n's 17, Dad."
