Here is a text to speech version incase you would like to listen instead of reading it.

"RINGGGGGG!" The bell made that annoying noise again, and I let out a loud sigh.

My best friend, Hazal, rolled her eyes and did the same.

Today was the first day of a new school year, which also meant our last one because we were finally seniors. Not that it was going to be any different from previous years, but at least we'd be able to escape this hellhole once we survived this one.

We stood up from the bench we'd been sitting on and made our way to our first class of the day: math. As soon as we walked in, we immediately spotted Ozan in the back of the class, laughing with his friends.

Hazal looked at me.

"Wait, no, don't tell me we have class with those assholes again," she said.

I gave her a weak smile and sighed. "I think we do, unfortunately."

"Great. Another year with them," she said, fake smiling as we walked to our usual seats in the front row, where we sat last year.

As we sat down, I looked behind me and saw Ozan smirking at me. I rolled my eyes and turned forward.

Stupid asshole.

Now, if you're wondering where all this hate comes from, let me explain.

A few years ago, Ozan was new to our school. Back then, he was a sweet, shy boy—the complete opposite of what he is now. We actually became friends, and Hazal developed a crush on him. Eventually, she confessed her feelings, and to her surprise, he said he liked her too. They started dating. But things took a wild turn when he started hanging out with the A-boys—short for "Asshole boys," though other girls saw them as "The Godly Boys." He saw this as his ticket to popularity and completely changed himself to become one of them. He cheated on Hazal, humiliated her in front of the entire school, and now he's known for moving from girl to girl almost weekly.

If you were in our shoes, you'd understand why he makes our blood boil and why we hate being in the same class as him again.

"And don't forget to study pages 23 and 24 by tomorrow. There'll be a test coming up soon," Mr. Selim said as he returned to his desk, preparing for his next class.

"Ugh, it's only our first day back, and we already have a test coming up," I complained to Hazal as I stood up and gathered my books.

"Well, at least it's just one test," she said, trying to be optimistic. "Remember last year, when we had two right off the bat?"

"True, but I wish we had some time to ease into the new school year." I sighed.

"Come on, let's go. Everyone's already gone."

I nodded, and we left the classroom, heading into the hallway.

"By the way, what class do we have next?" I asked.

"Let me check." She took out her phone and looked up our schedule.

"First, we have Geography, and then History," she said.

"Doesn't sound like it's going to get any better, then," I replied, already dreading it.

It was only the first day, and our classes were already terrible...

We headed to our lockers. Hazal went to hers, which was down a different hallway, while I went to mine. I opened my locker, dropped in the books I didn't need, and took out the ones for my next class.

Just as I was about to close it, someone did it for me. I turned around and rolled my eyes when I saw who it was. Eren Aydin. Another friend of Ozan's, but not just any friend. He's the one who's been asking me out since forever. Because every other girl in school would do anything just to be in his presence, he assumes I feel the same—and he won't take no for an answer. He thinks I'm playing hard-to-get, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

"No, Eren. I'm not going to the beach with you, I'm not going to the movies with you, and I'm not going to a restaurant with you," I said irritably, hoping he'd finally take the hint. Instead, he leaned closer.

"Aww, come on, sugar. You don't have to act. We both know you like me," he smirked.

I pushed his face away. "How dense are you?! I. DON'T. LIKE. YOU. Want me to spell it out like I'm in first grade?"

"Okay, well, what about just going to the park, then?" he asked.

Right now, I felt like I was going to explode. I wanted nothing more than to slap him, even though I knew it wouldn't do any good—except maybe get me in trouble with the teachers and principal. But honestly, it would feel amazing.

My attention drifted as I spotted some boys further down the hallway laughing at another boy standing by the lockers. He didn't seem to care and kept to himself, but I felt bad for him. I'd seen him around school a few times; he was always alone, and kids constantly laughed at him. Part of me wanted to go over and talk to him, but I was afraid I wouldn't know what to say.

"Hello? Are you there?" Eren said, waving his hand in front of my face.

"Huh, what?" I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at him.

"I asked if we could go to the park."

I sighed and rolled my eyes. "Sorry, I have class. Talk to you later," I said with a fake smile before turning and walking away, leaving his question unanswered.

After a few hours, it was finally lunchtime. I grabbed my stuff and headed into the hallway. I took out my phone and texted Hazal, since we didn't have the same last class before lunch.

Ekim
Hey, where are you?

As I walked down the stairs, I waited for her reply. A few seconds later, she responded.

Hazal
I'm outside, waiting for you by the grass field.

Ekim
Okay, I'll be there soon.

When I reached the bottom of the stairs, I turned off my phone and slipped it back into my pocket. I hadn't been looking where I was going, so I didn't notice someone coming around the corner. I bumped into them and fell hard to the floor.

After a few seconds, I slowly opened my eyes and looked up at the person in front of me. It was him—the guy from the lockers. The one everyone was laughing at. He looked at me without any expression, and I just stared back, not saying a word....
