Moments before

"He found me," I thought as the lid to the coffin slowly opened and found this mortal man looking in.

Sensing the creature who attacked me, I took a chance and pulled him into the coffin with me. The winds of the dead closing the coffin shut without a sound. He smelled of Nightmare, my mare and friend... it was the last thing I was able to do before getting blindly attack. Sending Nightmare away... only the Fates would know what would happen if I didn't.

He had slipped while looking at me, landing hard on my lap... near my personal areas. Getting him to hold my wound was easy but when I brought some light into the coffin... it was his innocents that caught my breath.

He came here to truly save me out of his own will. Scared of Nightmare, he continued towards her and she accepted him as a rider. Something that only happens once and has only been heard of in stories of a second time a mare gifted a mare. My eyes glowed with what little power I had in my blood... with every breath my energy leaves faster.

It was only when I felt my heart nearly stop, where I told him he couldn't save me because he was in fact human and didn't have the power. My soul would be recycled and used in another body without my memories. His tears began to fall down his sad and I reach out and wiped them away from his face.

The link of two souls appeared between us, something a few can see; one being Reapers and the immortals themselves. They were telling me that he was mine... the one I've been waiting for since I was still alive and still now with my brokenness as a Reaper.

I held his face as a last act. My eyes drifted close as the last of my life energy began to burn away, my eyes were almost closed.

"You can't die," he told me as a hard slap hit me across the face.

My eyes opened, just as a green light flickered to life within his one hand still holding down on the wound. The smell of old magic, pure innocence of magic that was thought to be gone burned into my body. From his hand... it began to restore the damage and heal me.

Blood replaced by magic, wound heal like new soft skin and a strong beating from within my chest pounded in my ears. Looking up at him, he seemed surprised and happy at the same time. When the light began to vanish from his hand, I waited for the crash from untrained magic using but he fought hard.

I sense the slip a moment later, catching him and holding him close to my heart. Holding him felt like a dream, a distance memory thought long gone until you dream. Where your subconscious helps you regain that moment. He fell asleep listening to my heart beating.

Holding onto him, as if I would lose him if I dare wake up, and find him gone. Reaching deep inside me, seeking my sleeping magic and used it to bring us somewhere safe. A realm mortals need a place to enter or something more permanent...and I just happen to have a pass and an apartment.

"Did you find it?" Asked a dark evil voice.

"No master, the Reaper is no where to be seen and neither is his bookie pen," responded a creature long thought dead.

"Foolish simple minded creatures, go find another Reaper then," ordered there master. Thunder boomed outside as the master began to leave, "Once you got the things I need.. go kill a few fairies," he ordered as dark shadows shallowed him up and he was gone.

"Fun times..."
