I stood in the doorway of my classroom, my bag on my shoulder. I slid open the door and walked inside, taking a seat in the back. Haru sat beside me, his head in a book. I watch him for a moment before I turn my attention to the teacher, Ms. Nakano. It appeared as though it would be just another normal day.
*********
I opened my front door, setting off my shoes inside."Okaasan*! I'm home!" I called out. My mother popped her head in from the kitchen. She nodded her head and smiled at me before returning to he cooking. I followed her into the kitchen. "What are you making?" I asked.
"Udon*" my mother replied.
"Mmm, it smells great." I walked out, "I'll be in my room" I tossed over my shoulder as I walked out. I sat down at my desk, pulling out my books. I opened one and began my homework but was interrupted by the phone. I hurried out of my room and into the hall where the phone was.
"Kumiko-chan! Please get the phone!" My mother called.
"Okay!" I answered, picking up the phone. "Hello?" The line was silent. "Hello?"
"Your time has come to an end" a scratchy voice said on the other side. "You have one month to live, Kumiko Hayashi" then the line went dead. I stood frozen in the hall, horrified.
"Kumiko? Who was it?" My mother asked.
"Um.... It was a wrong number" I lied. My mother would call me crazy if I told her what the man on the other line had just said.

Hey! What do you guys think? I know, it's something new, but I wanted to try it out. I also tried to include a little bit of Japanese culture in here, I hope you enjoyed!*Okaasan is like our way of saying mom. It's more casual form of Haha, which is what you call your mom if you're talking to someone outside of your family.
**Udon are Japanese noodles made of wheat flour.Udon are thicker than soba and are also served either hot or cold and with various toppings such as fried tofu (kitsune udon), tempura (tempura udon), and mountain vegetables (sansai udon).
** I found the information about the food on Japan-guide.com**
