A/N: Before we begin, you should know that the character of the Thylacine Prince will be called Dennis the Magnificent instead of Peregrine Firestrike. This will be the only story that uses this alternate name. When I first started writing, I did plan to have the Thylacine Prince to be named after me, but after writing the story I decided to change his name to Peregrine Firestrike as I thought this name fitted better for a royal. So while this story will be using the original name, all other stories with the Thylacine Prine in it, will refer to him as Peregrine Firestrike. Now onto the story...

In 1973 there were multiple sightings of a creature around the town of Enfield Illinois. It was called the Enfield Horror, a beast that many people believed was an alien from another world. It was a hideous beast that stood 4 ½ feet tall and had 3 legs, a short body that was almost human and greyish coloured, 2 short arms and 2 pink eyes that glowed like flashlights. When the sightings stopped everyone thought the beast had left for good. But one creature knew that this was not the case...

53 years later...

Jason Spitfire stepped off the plane that had just landed at Hammonton, New Jersey. He and his mother had travelled all the way from Mole Creek, Tasmania so Jason could visit his great-grandfather who had fought in WW2. Jason was very excited to be seeing his great-grandfather. Not only did he have hundreds of stories to tell about life during WW2, he also lived in the Pine Barrens forest, a place that was said to be the home of several ghosts and monsters. Jason was mostly interested in Tasmanian Tigers but anything about monsters and ghosts would catch Jason's attention. Jason couldn't wait to get to his great-grandfathers farm.

"So mum, how far is it to great-grandpa's farm?" Jason asked.

"Not far. In fact, his house is only 12 minutes' drive from the hotel where we'll be staying in just before we leave. We'll take a taxi,' his mother answered.

During the drive, Jason wondered if he would have the luck of seeing a Jersey Devil or one of the ghosts that lived in the area. His great-grandfather lived in an area that had many Jersey devil sightings and had even seen it himself. Jason hope to see one himself, from a distance of course.

When they finally reached the farm, it was almost dark. Jason's great-grandfather was sitting on the porch of an old house dressed in his old military uniform (he rarely took it off) and stood up as Jason and his mother came over to the house.

"Why, hello Jason. I haven't seen you since you were 3. Boy, you have grown. And it's been a while since I saw you my dear Emily."

"Well it's nice to see you too Grandpa," Jason's mother answered.

"Yes, it is nice, and I'm looking forward to hearing about your childhood," Jason said.

"Oh, you'll have plenty of time to hear them," Jason great-grandfather said, walking back to the house, "But why don't you come in and have dinner. It's chicken pie and mashed potato"

"Sounds delicious," Jason declared. So, he and his mother walked into the house, washed their hands and sat down at the table while their great-grandfather brought over the pie and potato.

While they were eating, Jason's great-grandfather muttered, "I'm not sure that this is a good time to tell you this, but we have had several killings over the last few weeks by some so-called Jersey Ripper"

"Murders?" Jason mother asked nervously.

"Yes, 50 was the last given number but I suspect that there's been far more, the government just doesn't want the public to panic. All victims have had their throat's torn out and the only footprints left at the crime scene were all dog-like with 6 toe pads. But we don't have to worry. The murders only happen in the large towns and cities. Now, who wants some apple pie?" he asked. Neither Jason nor his mother were feeling very hungry after hearing about the murders, but they both took a large piece of pie and cream and ate in silence while his great-grandfather chatted about the D-Day landing.
