The past week had been rather cloudy even though the weather forecast promised the opposite & another tiresome Thursday was no exception. Nevertheless, today was relatively bright outside since the sun was peeking out from behind the clouds this time instead of hiding. However, it was getting colder & as the leaves were changing their shades, creating illusions & paintings of yellow, orange, brown or red.
A girl — sitting in front of Arūna — stretched her arms behind her back, almost reaching Arūna. She lightly swung in her chair, avoiding getting hit.
- Oh, sorry.
- By the way, Aya, did you hear? The Kanji results apparently were the worst out of our year.
Aya faced Hiroto with a surprised expression covering her face:
- Really? I thought those stupid first years would be shit at kanji, not us.
A guy who sat two seats away in front of Arūna clicked his tongue & laughed, which caught the attention of his classmates.
- Those first few classes messed up the average score between us second years'. - Jurou stated & let out a breathy laugh. - They're always the worst at everything.
- But that's just a theory. - Arūna interrupted. - Wouldn't they try harder since they struggle more? - She shrugged after her guess, having more hope for her simpleton second-year teammates.
Jurou then shrugged & went back to a game on his phone.
- Lazy people always get into those dumb classes. They probably don't care at all.
- I mean, the kanji exam was difficult to some extent. - Arūna continued after resuming to eat, not knowing why she was defending people she didn't even know.
- ...You got a perfect score, Aika'chan. What are you going on about?
- But I still can't believe we had t—
- Arū'chan! - Kuroo & Sora announced themselves with a loud greeting while Akari lightly skipped towards Arūna.
- Oh god...
Arūna mentally face-palmed while watching her seniors walk to her. They all had smiles, one wider than the others. Kuroo stopped near Aya & Hiroto, doing their usual, yet way too complicated handshake.
- Where's Ken? - Arūna took another bite of her apple.
- He's at the canteen since they restocked the yakisoba bread.
Kuroo finally joined in on the conversation & sat down on the desk in front of Arūna, holding his fist out. She reciprocated the fist bump, continuing with their usual, much simpler & quicker handshake.
- How was the science exam? - Kuro grabbed Arūna's maths notebook, flipping to see if she'd wasted any more pages for full drawings or stupid doodles.
- Easy as always, I guess.
- "As always"?
Akari dramatically sighed before she dropped onto the empty seat next to Arūna, leaning her head on the girl's shoulder with her hand on her forehead. Akari faked a sob.
- You're kidding me. It was way harder than last year's!
Hiroto joined in:
- Did you guys hear about the kanji results?- Must be tragic to be a second-year. - Kuroo exaggerated a sigh before looking up at them with sudden hope in his eyes. - But it's alright. I'll teach you everything you need to know. I've always been so generous, after all.
