I walked out into the hallway from the principal’s office with my head held high.
I walked up to my locker and grabbed my car keys from inside. My little silver monkey keychain that Iliana had gotten me for my birthday last year, stood out in a blaze of eye squinting light from the sun coming down on it through the windows.
I closed my locker and nearly had a heart attack.
Sirius was standing there staring down at me with those piercing green eyes of his. He had his back leaning up against the lockers, and one foot holding him up while the other occupied Kayla’s locker. He was twirling a piece of what looked like grass in his fingers absentmindedly. He looked like a bad boy from all those movies that the girls gush over. Ha, how cute!
“So, you get in all kinds of heaps of trouble?” He asked, smirking in a way that made him look even sexier than he already was.
“But of course! I have three days suspension!”
His smile grew when I said that, and I couldn’t help but let a small one of my own get out. I really didn’t want to be suspended, but Ashley had it coming! I’m just glad she got a good ol’ bloody nose to go with my suspension. I would sleep better at night knowing I at least gave her something to cry over.
Bitch!
“YES!” He said, putting a lot of emphasis on the word, “now you get to hang out with me for three days straight!”
I rolled my eyes. Of course that’s what he would be thinking at a time like this. Not about my permanent record, but about spending three days with him. What did he think we would do? Go picnicking in the park?
“Actually, I was thinking just that.” He said in a matter of fact tone.
“But that would be pointless.” I blushed a little at saying this.
“No it wouldn’t. I can be like you if I wanted. I can show myself to you and you can touch me, but I choose when I want to let that happen. It’s just other people that can’t. You’re mine to protect and mine to show you myself as I please. Your friends would think you’re crazy if you told them about me though. I can’t show myself to anyone but you.”
“Wow,” I said, “that must suck. I bet you get lonely.”
“Sometimes. I’ve shown myself to you now though.” His eyes got dark when he said this. Like it pained him to say it. Was there something wrong with him showing himself to me? “And you keep me company. I get bored with human emotions easily. Once you’ve seen the same things happen year after year after year, you tire of it.” He said.
“I bet. I know I would. I can hardly take the drama and shit from one lifetime, let alone millions. I should get going. They said I just needed to get my stuff and leave. So that’s what I’m doing. I just don’t want to go home and face the wrath that is waiting for me. My mom.”
He burst into full fledged laughter and I pouted up at him. His previous sadness, or whatever that was, over.
“Come on!” I said, “I’m serious. You haven’t seen her when she gets all worked up! I’m going to get the speech about being respectful and how I should grow up and be the bigger person blah, blah, blah!”
“You know you are absolutely adorable when you get all worked up? I bet your mom looks hot too. I want to witness this!” He said mockingly.
I blushed. “Hey! That’s so disgusting! If I could hit you right now, I would!”
His smile went from ear to ear as he said, “Bring it on little girl! I’d like to see you try!”
I reared back my fist and swung at air, hitting the same knuckle that just busted Ashley’s nose on Kayla’s locker where Sirius had just been.
