The sun was setting hidden behind the tree lines. Everything erupted into utter chaos. Xavier could hear the screams coming from his people. A sense of urgency. Another camp was attacking them. Xavier kept hearing the piercing high pitch sound of bullets being fired in their direction. It wouldn't be long before the creatures lurked upon them. The sound was giving away their location.
"We need to get out of here!" His best friend Tyler attempted to yell over the loud gunfire and explosions around them. Xavier nodded dropping their medical supplies. Running out of the convenient store right behind Tyler. The rest of the soldiers climbed into the truck not wanting another second before driving away from their enemies. Tyler successfully threw his body over the moving truck.
"C'mon!" Yelled around the loud sound of gunshots and grenades being thrown.
The truck was a just a few feet away but out of Xavier's reach. He was running directly behind the truck as fast as he could. He glanced behind his shoulder finding a terrifying sight of multiple armed men marching towards him, death in their eyes looking at Xavier like their target.
Xavier forced his legs to sprint faster toward the truck that was rolling out of his reach. Tyler held out his hand for Xavier, but as their skin made the tiniest of contact another explosion erupted hitting the right side of the truck. Xavier's body flew and hit the ground hard. He blacked out for a moment. All he could see was the blackness inside the smoke. He was disoriented. It felt like his lungs were collapsing. It was becoming hard to breathe. The mass amount of smoke made it difficult to breathe, forcing him to cough repeatedly. Everything around him was muffled. His body was not letting him move. He couldn't see anything through all the smoke, but he knew his people left him. He could no longer heard the sound of gunshots, or the engine of the truck. They left him to die in the hands of their enemy.
"Your people are not gonna save you now." A blonde enemy soldier appeared through the smoke that was thinning out. The blonde solider stood over him holding a rifle in his hands. Xavier was too dazed to utter a reply and forced to watch the rifle make contact with his skull. Blackness took him over, his body going completely still.

Rose was lost in her thoughts. Her long black hanging loosely. She sat a stump sharpening her knife. It was a quiet night in the woods. This was her sanctuary. She preferred being alone. A blood shrieking scream broke the silence occupying her mind. She stopped the motion of sharpening her knife, starring at the woods in the direction the scream came from. It was dark, most would think of the woods as eerry feeling making their skin crawl, but after everything she had experienced, she found peace in the woods. It provided silence among the humans and the monstrous creatures that arrived attempting to take out the human race.
Rose slid the newly sharp knife into her pocket and slowly grabbed her bow and arrow from inside the tree behind her. She climbed the nearest tree, hiding among the highest point. She crossed tree from tree until she approached where the noise came from. She used the leaves to keep her hidden while she took note of her surroundings. She saw pairs of men walking around this camp, holding rifles attached to their sides. Rose directed her hand toward where the scream came from. A boy sat on the ground his hands tied behind his back, he was blindfolded. Three men stood in front of him. Two men acted like soldiers. Both were tall and muscular. In front of them stood a man she assumed was their leader. The way he stood showed he needed dominance over everything in his presence. Rose despised people like him. They reminded her of her father. She watched as the leader ripped off the blindfold aggressively from the boy. He seemed to be about around her age. There was arguing between the soldiers. Rose watched the leader raise a gun toward the unknown boy. He had a terrified look on his face. Almost of innocence. Rose had always taught herself that caring for other people only makes you weak. But something about this boy made her want to go against everything she stands for. In her gut, she knew she had to save him. A grin came across her face thinking about the chaos she was just going to erupt in their camp.
