HARVEY:
The loud bell sounded and everyone in form rushed back to their seats. Mr Trodehill walked in and stood at the front. He was standing hunched over, peering down at all of us. Finally, his nasally voice spoke.
"Today class we have a new student." He started hacking and people ducked down - he was known for projectile sneezing. We all looked to the door when someone had cleared it as a false alarm. We waited patiently for the newcomer to the class, until Mr Trodehill got a call saying he had just arrived and that his train was delayed. The new boy gets a train to school?, I thought, wondering about how far this boy could possibly live away from the school for that to be a sensible option. I took my mind off the new boy and looked out the window. We had first period in form - English. As I looked outside, I could see 11A having their PE lesson. What I would give to be in 11A right now..I got out my blue jotter from my black bag and flipped the cover open, showing off all the doodles I had accumulated inside of it over time. I got out a black biro and began to scribble down another drawing inside. No one saw- I was sat on the back row anyway, with no one next to me. Wait, now that I think about it, it wasn't a biro, it was a fountain pen. Maybe that's why all my drawings looked like scribbles.
A few, long, dreary seconds passed as I drew, and time seemed to slow down. Suddenly, I was hit with a wave of ink, coming from my pen. It was all over my shirt and my jotter. I only got some on my hands, but they mainly contained the shards of plastic from the pen. Mr Trodehill saw and dismissed me to the boys bathroom, sending Layla with me. Layla is the kind of girl who's always like "oh im one of the boysss" and it's super annoying. She's super bitchy as well and will shit talk any girl to a boy for their approval. While we walked, she tried to make idle conversation with me. I would've reciprocated this kind offer of breaking the silence, if she hadn't started with:
"Oh my god, did you hear Melissa cheated on her boyfriend?" She said, leaning to look at me.
"No. She's not dating anyone right now so how could she cheat on a hypothetical person?" I responded.
"Uh no, she has a boyfriend."
"She doesn't. Melissa is my sister. I would know if there was a boyfriend in the mix."And at that point we reached the doors to the bathroom, and Layla, annoyed, opened them for me.
