"Oh, by the way, the repair guy will be coming by at eleven to fix the shower."

Jennie sits up, suddenly a lot more alert. Normally she tunes out during Hoyeon's long goodbyes on a morning – seriously, Hoyeon acts like she's never going to see Jennie again most of the time – but the information that some random repair guy will be interrupting her much needed day off is enough to make her tune back in.

"Uh, what?" Jennie asks, "since when?"

"I organised it with the landlord ages ago," Hoyeon says, "but he's been going through this rehiring—"

"I don't care about the annoying landlord's business," Jennie says quickly, "can't we reschedule? I really didn't want to get dressed today. I haven't had a day off in forever and the last thing I want is to deal with some weirdo plumber. Seriously, last time, he was creepy as fuck, and I had to make awkward small talk with him until he fixed our shit and finally left."

"I'm sorry, Jen, but today was the only day I could get him to do it," Hoyeon apologises, "they're really backlogged on all the complaints, and we do need the shower to actually work as soon as possible."

"I don't know, I'm fine showering in a light drizzle for a few more days," Jennie mutters, but at Hoyeon's sad puppy-dog expression, she sighs and says, "alright, fine, I'll deal with it. But I'm not getting out of my pyjamas."

"I wouldn't ask you to," Hoyeon smiles, pulling open the apartment's front door, "I'll see you later. Don't forget to eat your greens and drink lots of water and—"

"Yeah, yeah, I know," Jennie rolls her eyes, immediately scooping up another spoonful of Lucky Charms that mostly consists of the marshmallows, "have a good day."

Hoyeon smiles as she heads out of the door. "I always do!"

She does, Jennie has to admit. She's not sure she's ever actually seen Hoyeon upset, and in a way, it's comforting to have a best friend that's such an optimist. Especially when Jennie is generally the opposite, but whatever.

She finishes up her cereal and glances up at the clock. Hoyeon said the repair guy will come by at eleven, so that means she has enough time to squeeze in an episode of a TV show before she gets trapped into awkward small talk with the creepy fifty year old repair guy.

She settles down on the couch and promises to be as unapproachable as possible. She's no stranger to creepy men, since she's been working in a bar since her first year of university. Now it's her final year, so it's safe to say she's used to dealing with it. She just doesn't want to deal with it in her own home, and the last time she'd dealt with the repair guy had left her creeped out for hours even after he left.

Jennie shivers at the memory and wishes that Hoyeon were here. She's the expert at small talk, extroverted as she is, and she can make conversation with literally anybody. She's the one who's good at dealing with this kind of thing, no matter how creepy the other person in the conversation is. Jennie, on the other hand, can hardly refrain from calling them creepy to their faces.

At least the creepy repair guy won't ask for my number, Jennie thinks as she cuddles herself up in a blanket and switches the TV on. Unlike the drunk assholes she encounters at work, she can at least feel safe in the fact that said creepy repair guy is probably married with an equally creepy wife. Maybe some creepy children thrown in the mix too, who knows?

She's barely halfway through her show, and has pushed the whole topic from her mind, when there's a knock on the front door. Jennie looks up at the clock on the wall, then checks her watch, then the clock built into her phone just to confirm that it's not somehow eleven already. Ten-thirty, so maybe it's a friend coming over to visit who she can use as an excuse to not politely chat with the repair guy.
