The Plan:
"Okay so the main goal is to save one to three hybrids and not to draw attention and get kicked out or killed." Eun Jae told me for the final time before my ride would arrive.
"These illegal underground auctions are insanely hard to find, let alone get invited to. Remember the only reason you got in was because of Chan pulling a few strings."
I sighed nodding."Trackers need to be put on as many 'buyers' as you can, so we can track down the hybrids and get them into safety. Chan will be there doing the same with his group."
He wasn't the only one, his team would be stationed around or in the building to survey both of us. I knew the auction ended at five am, meaning the raid was set to take place at four in order to make sure not too many people left before then.
With one last deep breath I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, stepping into the limo and preparing myself for the long night ahead.
It was almost eleven when I arrived at the mansion, resembling almost an innocent palace from the outside. I knew better than to be fooled by the charm.
With all the confidence in my body, I walked up to the sign in desk, taking a billet with the number '7' written in cursive font on it, for the auction later."Y/n L/n...? The hybrid advocate?" The man raised a brow, eyeing my name on his approved list.
"What's a better hiding spot than plain sight?" I chuckled. He nodded hesitantly, continuing to look me up and down, eyeing my smirk. It quickly fell. My eyes turned to ice, "or I can interrupt my close friend Chan, if you need confirmation?" He immediately let me pass through.
Taking a quick glance around, I noticed the doors leading to the main auction room were still closed, with a post on one of the doors of the time the auction would start.
Looks like I had some time to find out what hybrids were here, as I turned right into the showroom.Stealthily placing trackers on or in the pockets of as many people who passed by me, or who I said a short greeting too, not a fan of small talk amidst people like this.
It took me a few seconds to realize how worn down and tired many of the hybrids who had big red signs clung to their shirt or chest with "For Sale" written on it really looked. My heart beat quickened as fast as it fell. I started walking around again a little more, eyeing anything suspicious when I spotted a male hybrid being paraded around by one of the workers.
A few women were quick to flock around the hybrid who looked to be biting back his anger. I couldn't blame him, I'd do the same. Rolling his eyes he turned his head away from the group while I walked in closer.
Joining in on the semi-circle where I could hear their chatter, causing my stomach to churn worse.
"Oh look at this one.."
"A little short- but definitely good looking!"
"Such a cute fox~"
"What I'd do with him..."As the comments became darker, I stepped up, pushing my way in front of the hybrid. He causally glanced at me, eyes unbothered and looking like he'd given up already.
"How much for him?" I questioned his guard. This was definitely not part of my plan, and I was fully aware it could screw it up- but what was I supposed to do in this situation? Wait? Where does that get you in life.
"The auction hasn't started yet Ms..-" I cut the man off.
"L/n Y/n. Do I need to ask again? How about a thousand?" I saw the man flinch at my name, the hybrid raising a brow at this but continuing to hold his tongue.
I took the cash out, being handed the hybrids leash that these sick people insisted on using to have 'better control' over them. The man quickly walked away, going to log in the buy and put the cash somewhere safe.
"Why are you still crowding me?!" I hissed at the women near by, who quickly scattered away. Finally I was able to breath a sigh of relief.
"I'm L/n Y/n. It's nice to meet you, although I wish it wasn't under these circumstances." I spoke kindly to the strange hybrid.
He looked at me confused, when I gestured for him to follow me as we started walking beside each other. My hold on the leash as loose as I could get away with.
"This is your first auction, huh?" Although it sounded like one, he wasn't asking a question.I almost faltered but was quick, "if you don't want me to get caught, a little help blending in would be nice."
He sent me a smirk, eyes dancing around the crowded room as he whispered into my ear.
"Want to blend in? I know some hybrids you should buy."He wasn't good at the art of being subtle. The way his eyes briefly shinned for a second told me all I needed to know.
He knew I didn't belong here, and I knew he probably had some friends he wanted to be with. He probably knew he couldn't trust I wasn't faking being kind to him, but I assumed he thought I wasn't the worst option here.
Plus, now that I'd 'purchased' him, I was in a way his only option."Hmm. How many?" I asked, both of us sitting on a couch in a corner of the room. "Six." He paused.
"Ask for Taehyung and Jungkook. Get those two at least, you won't be disappointed they'll behave."
He obviously still thought I was just a novice buyer. His head was lowered as if in submission, and only then had I finally realized he was avoiding looking at me.
It was a common rule owners gave their hybrids, and although he'd broken it before, I guess these guys were pretty important to him.
"I can't ask. It'll draw too much attention- But I can look for them before the auction." I smiled warmly at him, he finally took a breath in.
I reached over, unclipping the "for sale" sign on his shirt and throwing it to the ground. He wouldn't need it ever again.
