Your alarm jolted you out of your warm sleepless dream and into the cold, dry morning. Your eyes wandered to the bedside clock, '"5:45 a.m. You groan as you try to snuggle back up into your warm bed with the mountain of blankets covering your body. "Why would I set my alarm to that?" you wondered, and when you remembered, your eyes shot open and your body shot into motion.
You ran four feet from your bed to your small bathroom. The reason for your early alarm was your first day as an intern for Stark Industries. Only having fifteen minutes to get ready, it would take you at least an hour to get there, though it wasn't too far from your small, old apartment considering the morning traffic in New York. It could take a year to get there if the universe really wanted to.
You had no time to care about how you appeared, as you had to move on to putting your clothes on. Having the outfit picked out as soon as you got the news of your internship, though it didn't pay, did help you put your foot in the door. Stark's system would have you in there when you applied for the job, and they could see that you were the right fit, hopefully. It had its pros and cons as you were trying to get through college to study greenhouse engineering to work for Stark Industries. But it was only a dream until you made it a reality.
Before racing down your creaky old wood stairs, you finished your outfit. You had filled and placed your water bottle in the fridge the night before; thankfully, you remembered and stuffed it in your bag as you ran around your kitchen looking for a quick snack that could serve as an excuse for a breakfast. Stuffing it in your mouth and pushing your butt out of the door, almost forgot your bag in the process.
Locking your door and finally making it down to the subway, it was crowded; the rats seemed to be minding their own business, as did the people trying to get to work. You had to stand, which was fine, though you wished to give your body a quick rest before having to rush to the bus. The stop came quickly, as did everyone else rushing off and onto the subway. You made your way up the stairs as fast as you could, and luckily, you got there right before the bus doors shut.
The relief you felt running through you at how well this was going, You sat down and looked down at the watch you had wrapped around your wrist. '6:40 a.m.' You had to get there at 7 a.m.; you made a mental note to set your alarm earlier. Looking out the worn-out window, you saw in the sky a shining dot flying around. As it got closer, you saw the famous Iron Man, Tony Stark.
After the long ride, you made it to the Stark Tower and made your way in. The ceiling was the first thing you noticed; it was extended beyond what you thought was possible. The cylinder-shaped ceilings allow you to see through to all levels of the building. Quickly snapping out of your awe, you made your way to the smiling, kind faced front desk lady. She had just finished helping someone else, but her smile never changed. You gave yourself a second before speaking.
"Hello, I'm here for Stark's internship." She nodded and stared at you with the same smile, never dropping "Name." You felt your cheeks go red before quickly saying, "Oh, right, Y/N, L/N." Her smile extended a bit at the situation, though it didn't help the embarrassment that went through your body. "Here you go, just go through the door and go down the hall; it's the second door to your right." She handed the badge to you before pointing out where the door was. "Thank you so much." You gave her a big smile as you walked off.
