[3rd person POV]

It was a casual day at Candy Club with the 2 usual workers working there, Kevin and Rick. It was 8 in the morning, still quite early. Kevin was managing the counter as he usually does while Rick was stocking up the candy. The store was cold and breezy, no customers to be seen. A pretty slow start to the day.

Kevin was feeling more tired than usual. He stayed up all night cleaning the spilled candy at the store last night. I swear they need a janitor. Kevin barely had any sleep, he almost crashed into a pole while cycling his bike home last night.

Kevin's eyes started to feel heavy. The worst part is Kevin's cashier place doesn't even have a chair so he basically has to stand up all day. Kevin was leaning onto the desk while his head laid against his palm. He was slowly drifting off to sleep.

Rick walked by Kevin while carrying a big box filled with candy. He couldn't help but notice his work partner sleeping on the counter. It's a little odd to see a person sleeping while standing up as their head laid on their counter. I guess Kevin was really tired after all. Rick decided to mind his own business and continue to stock the candy.

[AN HOUR LATER]

Rick was organising the candy supplies in the store room. He doesn't usually put a lot of effort into his work but business has been very slow today so he might as well make himself useful.

Suddenly, he heard a short shout from the front. He didn't react to it as much. He got up and slowly went out to see what happened. He saw Kevin awake. Kevin was sweating and he seemed somewhat traumatised, he was hyperventilating. Rick walked over to Kevin, standing beside him. Kevin slightly looked over to Rick.

"Sorry- I didn't mean to-.. I didn't mean to scare you.." Kevin said as he tries to smile.

"Nightmare?" Rick assumed in his usual monotone voice.

Kevin stayed silent for a few seconds, "Yeah.. It just.. Never stops." Kevin admitted frustratingly.

"Ever since those two kids came in my life, I've just been getting so many nightmares. I've been getting no sleep it's so frustrating. Why do they bring so many goddamn problems in my life. Like the first time they-..." Kevin continued to rant about the two Spooky Kids.

Rick silently listened. He understands what it's like to get nightmares but at this point they don't really effect him anymore. There's way more bigger problems in life than some silly dreams. But it is hard to sleep while having them.

Rick puts a hand onto Kevin's shoulder while he was ranting midway. Kevin stopped and looked at Rick.

"Sorry-.. They're just so frustrating." Kevin sighed.

Rick scooted behind Kevin and gave him a light hug. Rick was never the comforting type but something about seeing Kevin so hurt, opened something inside of him.

Kevin's eyes widened a bit. He didn't expect that from Rick but soon he gives into the hug. Kevin felt comforted and safe in Rick's arms. He wanted to be there forever. He closed his eyes and began to calm down. He felt relaxed for once.

"You need a break." Rick stated with a neutral tone. But he does feel a bit of concern for Kevin.

"That would be nice." Kevin smiled with a sad look. "I haven't had one of those in a while."

Rick noticed how calmed Kevin looked. He felt like smiling but he resisted.

"Maybe I just needed a hug.. I can feel all my worries melting away.." Kevin said in a soft tone. He felt so comfortable he could just fall asleep again.

Rick was speechless. He haven't felt this calmed and comforted in years. Maybe he also needed a hug. Rick tried to stay neutral though. Rick noticed that no one was entering the store or even walking pass it. He decided to take this opportunity to give Kevin some rest.

Rick slowly knelt down with Kevin still in his arms. Kevin was too comfortable and tired to question what Rick was doing and went along with him. Soon they were both sitting behind the counter while Kevin still being in Rick's arms. Kevin was half asleep already while leaning against Rick like a big comfortable pillow. Rick leaned against the counter while holding Kevin in his arms basically hugging Kevin to sleep behind the counter.

Soon, Kevin was sleeping comfortably in Rick's arms, for once he didn't get a nightmare. Rick took out a "On Break" sign from under the counter and placed it onto the counter top.
