melted ice cream | l.hc
how do i feel about living miles away from the nearest convenience store? not so convenient after all, is it?
but i can't really complain. i am a twenty two year old lady who can very well rent her own apartment and live closer to one, but i still live with my parents. what can i do? apartments in the city are EXPENSIVE.
but as a good daughter, i still do chores for them. such as going out to buy groceries, going out to buy necessities, going out to get food, going out to—
basically going out. if anything involves us to get out of the house, i'm their immediate sacrifice. and it is a hundred times worse when you live half an hour away from the city.
but here i am anyway, on my way to collect pizza and ice cream to celebrate the fact that i got a stable job. we're having a mini party at our house, and do you know who's paying for it?
that's right, i'm paying with my first month salary.
my very intense thoughts about whether the ice cream i bought would melt before i reach home or not were interrupted when i saw the long road of cars ahead of me. yes, my ice cream is definitely going to melt.
i peak my head out of the car window to see what the commotion was about. oh, the police.
an accident, possibly? but the police seem to inquire each vehicle on the road.. that's not what they do when there is an accident.
i started looking around to find hints on what was happening, but to no avail. however, a tall policeman caught my eye, and i could not avert my eyes from him.
he has no right being that hot. absolutely no right.
he seemed to have sensed my intense stare on him, because he looked at my direction and started walking towards my car.
i immediately looked at myself in the rearview mirror and fixed my hair. involuntarily, of course.
i rolled my window down, looking at the now smiling man. he removed his cap from his head, and leaned closer to the window.
"do you know why i pulled you over?"
i don't know what devil took over me. i don't know who was controlling me. i don't know how i had the confidence to say it in front of the other policemen. but i did.
"because you like me."
the man, instead of giving me 'that' look, he gave me the biggest grin ever. it made me question my confidence, and my whole existence.
"oh yeah? how'd you know?" he chuckled.
"i'd rather you tell me what's going on first?"
"i'd rather you tell me what's your phone number instead."
excuse me?? is he not worried if getting fired. why is he so chill about it. now it makes me wonder, does he do this to every pretty lady he sees? is his colleagues just so done with him?
why does that make me jealous?
he noticed that i wasn't responding and immediately let out a soft laugh.
"nothing to worry darling, but there is a kidnapper on the loose, and the kidnapped child was last seen in a car. we will just check the back of your car and let you go immediately, that is, if you're not the kidnapper." he spoke.
oh. i heard about this news this morning. something about one of the longest cases that is yet to be solved.
"yeah sure, all i have is pizza, ice cream and myself." i replied, unlocking the trunk of my car. the other policemen move to the back to check my car, but this man proceeds to rest his elbow on the open window area.
"so yeah what's the pizza and ice cream for?"
"oh well, it's for a little party because i got my first pay yesterday." i replied.
"that's great, congrats baby."
"excuse me?"
"you're fined." he said, whipping out a random notepad from his pocket and writing something on it. i wasn't really worried, because i had a feeling i knew what the next part of his sentence was.
"why's that?"
"because you're way too fine." he passed me the note, and i could figure out it's a phone number by counting the digits on the paper.
"anyway, you know you look like what i've pictured as my ideal typ—"
"we've checked her car, everything's good!" the policeman screamed, interrupting this flirty man's words.
"and i hate you!" he screamed back at him, before looking back at me and giving an apologetic smile.
"sorry about that, but yeah if you feel like it, i'd enjoy a reply. and my name's haechan by the way! okay bye take care and congrats!" he said and immediately sprinted to his colleagues.
what was that? did he just say i was his ideal type? diD HE JUST SAY—
i drove off, a million thoughts intruding my head. haechan, wow what a cute name.
i wanted to add his contact as quick as possible. i wanted to do it before going home. forget the ice cream —— it's probably just cream now.
oh yeah, but i have something else i have to do before that. i have to make sure the child is safe. especially since the police are in search for her.
...
