For years Lily had been on the run from a terrible organization that called themselves Alpha. The organization was both cruel and ruthless, stopping at nothing to destroy anyone or anything that got in the way of their success. The organization had eliminated both of her parents, shooting them both right in front of Lily. "You must...find Tail Gunner. Silver Fox. Tell him..Astrid..sent..you." Her mother had managed to whisper before choking on her own blood, and the life faded from her eyes. The death of both her parents left her an orphan at ten years old. With nobody to turn to and nowhere to go, Lily's only choice was surviving on the streets. Lily had been so naive after the death of her parents, forgetting all the warnings and advice they had told her. She had even gone so far as to asking complete strangers "Excuse me, do you know who this man is?" Showing them a photograph of her parents and the man, Tail Gunner, all smiling together. Annoyingly the only answers she got was dismissive waves, a quick "no, sorry" and even people shoving right past her, practically knocking her down. Now here she was nearly eighteen years old in sunny Los Angeles. Since the death of her parents, Lily had grown in many different ways. Lily no longer trusted anyone, in her mind it was her against the world. She also never stayed long in one place, it only raised suspicions that she had dark powers, and too many questions about her past and who she was. What did people want her to say? "Oh yeah by the way I actually do have powers." As if. The second she confessed that, they would either look at her as if she was crazy, or report her to the government. Being under the warm rays of the California sun seemed different. Something about it seemed to reach deep within Lily's soul and stir up something that she hadn't felt in a very long time. Lily sighed and shook her head. "Enough thinking about the past." She mumbled to herself. Sometimes she zoned out at the most inconvenient and embarrassing times, and here she was in line at Starbucks of all places! Lily took a deep breath to focus herself and calm down, then, since it was her turn, she approached the register. "Hi! What can I get for you today?" The barista said with a shy smile. "Hi. Uh yeah can I just get the iced coffee and um. The...croissant." Lily fidgeted with her hands. "Iced coffee and a croissant.. that will be eight dollars even." The barista said, pressing a few buttons on the screen of the register. Lily reached into her pocket and pulled out a few slightly crumpled one dollar bills. "Shit! I'm sorry. I guess I thought I had enough. You can just cancel the order." Lily quickly put the bills back in her pocket, turning to leave. "Oh it's ok, I'll pay for her." A deep voice spoke from behind her. As Lily turned around to see who had spoken, it was almost as if time seemed to slow down. Her eyes widened slightly in surprise at the boy standing there. His blue eyes seemed to see right into her soul. "I can pay." He said again, stepping in front of Lily and pulling out a debit card. "Th-thank you." Lily stuttered. "No problem miss." He flashed her a seductive smile. "Sorry about kind of being weird. I've been on my own for a while. And it's kind of rare that someone is nice to me." Lily apologized hastily. "By the way my name is Lily." She added. "I'm sorry more people aren't nice to you. You seem like a very sweet person." He frowned slightly. "Also, I'm Dylan." He introduced himself. Lily blushed again, turning her face so Dylan couldn't see how red she was. At last the barista called their order and she got her coffee. "Hey, it would be really nice to hang out with you sometime. I have..uh..stuff to do but I know I'll see you around. Your beauty is hard to miss." Dylan looked at Lily and she smiled. As they parted, Lily's mind was racing. He was so perfect, and sweet, and his eyes were so hypnotizing. Amidst all these thoughts Lily failed to notice a man walking towards her, and she ran straight into him. "Watch were you're going mister!" She exclaimed angrily, her temper instantly flaring. Lily's hands sparked and small flames flickered in her palms. Just as quickly as the flames ignited Lily put them out with a slight flick of her wrists. Unfortunately she failed to see the man quickly glance down at her hands, then back up at her, his eyes narrowed slightly. "My bad little girl." He replied sarcastically, his accent slightly British. Lily just glared and him, then brushed past and stalked away angrily.
