"And how are you doing today?" Y/n faces the void in front of them. Everlasting, eversucking, dragging her by the ankles into the abyss. Only to be snapped to the picture of a girl in front of them. "Yes- uh I'm fine. I think my sight is returning." They lie, a white lie at best. Shuri frowns, "Yes, and the view of the floor is entrancing as it was yesterday?" She said, leaning back in her chair. Y/n sighs, "I guess." Y/n had arrived in Wakanda a month ago, nothing with her but a bright beaded bracelet.

In her past lives, she had a close connection with the black panthers. There had always been a prophecy, a Kitsune passing through the Wakandian village every hundred years, sure Shuri had never believed it was real but when a fox eared, multiple bushy tailed girl walked through their defenses like nothing- she started to tilt towards the old tale.

Shuri enjoyed showing them the modern world, Wakanda included. It was nice to have someone that wasn't holding a spear at her side. Especially after everything that had happened a month ago.
Shuri sighs, "Maybe you just need some fresh air. You haven't seen all of Wakanda." Y/n sits up, "Whatever you say, my Queen." "ah, how many times will I have to tell you to stop calling me that?" They both leave the lab, the first few weeks Y/n had gotten stares, but eventually the public didn't mind it. "Let's see what you can see today." They walk out of the lighted modern castle, earning a few waves from the soldiers out at work. "Good afternoon my Queen!" "Evening, my Queen." People bowed and waved, Shuri had earned their respect from the battle a month ago. The one Y/n had missed, but constantly saw. Repairs in Wakanda, the death of the Queen, and comments like that. "I thought you said not to call you that. My Queen." Shuri blushes, "My god, we are past that. I practically dissected your eye last week."

Y/n smiles lightly, one of her eyes was a glowing hue, her usual ability to manifest the dead, and the spirits beyond were on the fritz. Each eye sees a different dimension itself, but she still enjoyed watching the citizens of Wakanda. "They look happy." Shuri glances at the Kitsune, "The rebuilding has almost finished, houses are being rebuilt." What monster could have done this to the Wakandians? What monster took her mother away from her? Y/n didn't want to ask too many questions, she didn't want to bring up bad memories.

She liked Shuri, and didn't want her to be anything but happy. She knew what Shuri wanted from her. She didn't say it but she knew it. Y/n couldn't help but feel useless. She couldn't give it to her. Her eyes fall onto the water. By then she didn't even realize they were sitting beside it, the sun setting. "Do you swim?" Shuri asked, again snapping Y/n out of her void. "My.. Kind doesn't like the water. That's something I differ in." She admits, Shuri just watches the light waves crash in and settle, "I hate the ocean."

Y/n frowns, hesitantly laying a light hand onto her friend's shoulder. With that she felt everything, her brother's last breath, and the one taken from her mother. All by a figure Y/n couldn't quite make out. This was the monster, possibly too vile to see in her vision. "I'm sorry.. I'm- so sorry. How could- they- I.." She was at a loss for words. She had seen ten's of wars, and even more deaths but something about what she saw now was different. Y/n couldn't just sit here and be useless to her, not anymore. "It wasn't your fault. You were not even here when he- came. Wakanda is safe- and that's what matters." Shuri fiddled with her hands, struggling with her words.

Y/n stood up, using her boot to carve symbols into the sand below them. Slowly making a circle around her, "I wasn't there when it happened. But I can do something now." She closed her eyes, as sparks and hues began to form onto the beach, sand orbiting around the Kitsune rushed into the air. Her nine tails spread around her legs, "What? What are you doing- Y/n-"

She opened her eyes. A purple scape of wisps and curved trees surrounded her. The air felt clean, and the sky felt bigger. This was Wakanda. Wakanda after. Wakanda after it's passing. Now looking down to see her ceremonial robes. Y/n looks around the scene, empty. But with one step, one crunch in the grass, it exploded into spirits and sights, all bumping and pushing one another through her. They all screamed and hollered the words "Mistake! Mistake!"
