How it started.

Donnie is getting his battle shell on while being attacked by Cassandra's kid. He wants to give Donnie a sticker for his shell because it's "too scary". The worst gift Mikey could've given that kid had to be the 500 pack of stickers. He's been terrorizing everyone since he got the packet a week ago. Donnie gives in and Casey starts slamming the stickers in random spots on his shell. Cassandra comes to the rescue and takes Casey away so we can finish getting ready. We're going to give it another shot. We have to stop the Kraang today. It's been about ten years since the key was stolen by the Foot Clan and used to open the portal. It's my fault the key was stolen. I was such a show off at 15. If I had listened to Raph...

"Hey man, you ready?" Donnie grabs my shoulder and looks me in the eyes. He does this a lot now because he knows when I space off. April calls it "twinstinct" but I don't try to hide when I space.

"Yeah. What's the rate for today?" I get up from the bench and walk over to the weapon cabinet and see Raph's old sai's. The big oaf refused to take them that day because he had almost broken them the last time we went out.

"Survival rate is a 40% chance today based on weather and past attempts." Donnie says monotone.

"I like those odds." I turn and smile at him but he just looks at me deadpan.

"You shouldn't. It's a low chance."

"Not as low as 10%. Or 5%."

"It's still lower than any of us would like. Remember the odds when Raph-"

"Yes Donnie. I remember." I cut him off. It was a 80% chance. No matter how many numbers and scenarios he typed in it still wouldn't have mattered. We didn't expect the actual expected to happen because it was so foolish. But it happened and we don't have our oldest brother anymore.

"Well. 40% is our odds for today. Do you want to continue?"

"God you sound like those dumb video games we used to play with dad." I gently punch his shoulder. He smirks for a second but then it fades.

"Do you ever miss that? Our old lives?"

"Of course I do Dee. I miss not worrying about whether an alien will find us and kill all of us. I miss having a normal family. I miss dad and Raph and Karai and Drax. I miss them all. I miss all of it."

He chuckles sadly. "I forgot about Karai. I wonder if she's having fun with dad."

"She's having the time of her afterlife with those guys. Let's make sure we don't see them soon, ok Dee?"

"Yeah. Let's go." He smiles gently and grabs his stuff and we head out the doors. We say goodbye to everyone and give Mikey and April big hugs. Casey sneaks up on me and slaps a smiley face sticker on my calf. He giggles and runs back to his mom and waves us off.
