Braith was very suspicious over the next few days. Whenever he and Clover had to speak to one another, she was actually nice to him. She still threatened him from time to time but she was nicer to him. It was just strange.
He sighed, wondering what could be running through her head. He didn't understand her sudden change in attitude. Then again, he really didn't understand her at all. One moment she would be as emotionless as a rock, the next she's just bursting with suppressed feelings.
He rubbed his hands over his face, groaning. She was the most interesting human he had ever met. At least, he thought she was human. Now that I think about it, I haven't actually smelled anything on her other than the forest. Braith scowled as he stood, walking out to his terrace and looking out at his estate. He was a wolf demon, they had the strongest sense of smell among demon kind. So how was it a simple, but flighty girl like Clover smelt of nothing other than the forest itself?
This is strange... he thought, sighing. Who exactly was she? Clover.. He thought about her. She was extremely and nearly impossible for him to read. She was like an unpredictable storm. One moment she could be calm, the next she was like the raging waves, taking out anyone and anything within her path. Clover was gifted in the art of combat and most importantly, ninety percent of the time it seemed, she could shut off her emotions and not let them get the better of her. She would speak her mind freely and do as she pleased, not letting anyone hold her back. But, he wondered, what about that tick of hers? Braith knew that if he ever uttered a word about him being her owner, and that she had no choice but to obey him, she got this look in her eyes. It was a look of a wild and dangerous animal, of an uncontained fury that she would lash out at anyone and kill them in the process. All of that, and without feeling the slightest inkling of remorse.
A knock on his door interrupted his thoughts and he turned, telling whomever it was that they could come in. It was, of course, the woman who had plagued his mind since day one. In other words, Clover.
"Here's your food since you were too stubborn to come down to the dining hall. It's just a bowl of curry. I didn't have anything else. I'll need to go into town tomorrow to get groceries and things." He took joy in barely listening to her and more or less focusing on her lovely behind as she backed into the room with her cart filled with mouthwatering food and an intoxicating aroma.
"Oh? And what about your work?" He said in his all too monotone and bored voice. He knew it agitated her to no end and he wanted to get a rise out of her.
Braith definitely wasn't disappointed. "Fine! You can starve for all I give a damn! It's not like you should listen to me or anything!" She turned, shouting at him and the most adorable pout on her face. He couldn't help the chuckle that rumbled out and he smiled at her a little.
"I was listening."
"If you paid attention you would know I don't have to work for the next two days idiot! It's Saturday and sunday. On those days, you don't get to annoy me." She scowled and rolled her eyes. "Anyway, come sit and eat. You didn't eat lunch and you've been staring at that small screened computer all day." Clover took the cart to the small sitting area he had situated on his terrace, setting his tea and food on the table.
He smiled softly and sat down. "Thank you." He said, taking a sip of his tea, his smile growing wider. It was as delectable as always. Since the day she had changed up his normal concoction, he had given her free reign to put and mix whatever she liked into his tea. Braith found that he was never disappointed in her choices. He was surprised when he heard the chair across from him scoot out and another cup of tea was set down in front of it. He lifted his eyes from his tea, looking at Clover over the rim of his cup. She was sitting there in that chair, sipping on her own tea as she watched the sky.
