There they were. Sitting. On the floor. Legs crossed. Hands on knees. Eyes closed. They were breathing slowly. It was...peaceful, quiet...a little too quiet honestly. It was driving the older sibling a bit crazy. The first minute was okay. The second was not too bad. The third was...torture. Really, what was the point of doing this? Supposedly, this would help his anxiety, help him focus, help him be more at ease with himself. But it seemed to be doing the opposite. He was growing impatient. Eventually he let out an annoyed grunt and rolled his eyes.
"This is pointless," Anthony exclaimed as he got up from the floor.
The winter spirit opened his eyes and turned his gaze to the teenager, "You didn't give it the full ten minutes."
"I don't see how doing this is gonna help. It's..." He looked around to find what word to use.
"Boring?" Jack asked. Anthony let out a sigh.
"No, more like..." He looked around some more before finally relenting his endeavor to find the perfect word, "Yeah, meditation is boring."
He sat on his bed. He then sighed and dropped his neck. His eyes were staring at the floor. Jamie sat alongside his brother and looked at Jack with a snotty look. For a 10 year old, he was really fast with quips.
"Aren't you supposed to be the guardian of fun, Jack?"
Frost furled his eyebrows at the remark, "You keep saying stuff like that, and I'm gonna pelt you the next time we have a snowball fight."
"Ooh, can I join?" Anthony asked.
"No. Unless you want me to roundhouse kick you in the face."
Tony made a clicking noise, "C'mn Jack. He's my little bro. It's my job to beat him up a little here and there."
"Hey, I'm the only one who is allowed to do the beating up, okay?"
The two brothers chuckled. Jack smiled. He had become somewhat of an older brother to both of the boys and to Sophie. He then stood up and sat next to Anthony.
"I know this is hard. Trust me, when Master Wukong was training me, this was the one thing I was I was having the most trouble with. But eventually, I got the hang of it. It takes practice. You're retraining your brain and body to focus on one thing."
"Something I am notoriously bad at doing."
"But something you can and will get better at. Don't be too hard on yourself."
Jack put an arm around Anthony and drew him into a side hug. Tony rested his head on Frost's chest. Jamie followed suit as he wrapped his arms around his brother's midsection. The two let go of Anthony. Jack stood back up.
"Let's try cutting the time in half. You did about three minutes the last time. You should be able to do five."
Anthony looked at Jamie for some assurance. Jamie had been practicing meditation for a while. Jack had taught the younger brother how a few weeks back. It had worked well for the 10 year old. He nodded to his brother. Tony looked at Jack for a few seconds. He took a deep breath. Everyone had been telling him to try this; his psychiatrist, Master Wukong, and now Jack Frost.
He exhaled deeply. "Okay."
Anthony and Jamie both got up from the bed and onto Jamie's floor mat. Jack stood at the top of the mat while the two Bennett's were near the middle on opposite ends of each other. Jack sat himself down in a cross-legged position. The other two did the same.
"Make sure your backs are nice and straight and when you guys are ready close your eyes."
Anthony and Jamie did as they were told. Jamie closed his eyes, but Anthony hesitated. He looked at Jamie and then at Jack. Jack's pupils became wide, as if they were staring into the teen's soul.
