Chapter 23

Silence fell between them as they stared at each other, unmoving. Y/n barely had the muster to speak. All this time, she had been searching and never once given up searching for him. She felt relieved to see him. She could see that his expression reflected off her own. Y/n slowly took one step forward as her merriment grew. It was short-lived as her gaze focused behind Jimmy, Her whole world stood still as her heartbeat intensified. There, slumped on the floor, sat Timmy. His face was pale as if all color had been drained from him. His eyes were dull, staring blankly at her, his face held a look of fear and betrayal. Her mouth slowly agape in utter horror, spotting a blood trail that came from what she assumed was a stab wound. Her blood turned cold when she noticed Jimmy's expression shift into a grim stare.

"Well, I guess the secret is out. I'm surprised you were able to find me here." Jimmy said, taking a step forward which caused her to step back.

"You know, I was actually glad you came here. I'm guessing you were wondering where I was, right? I do apologize for making you worry. I had found a way to eradicate the syndicate. You see, fairy magic and ghost abilities are both strong in their own way but what if there was a way to combine both properties?"

Y/n continues to stare at him as if he was speaking incoherently.

"Turns out it was possible to do so. Although, it did take some 'cooperation' to finalize this achievement."

Seeing that he was no longer facing her Y/n followed Jimmy's gaze to see what he was looking at. She really wished she didn't. Her heart sank to the very pits of her stomach as she felt a lump in her throat. Jimmy then began to explain each individual contained stasis as he slowly walked closer to her. Y/n didn't notice Jimmy's approach as she couldn't take her eyes off the people who had been there for her.

"The holograms were the first, though the green-haired one was easy to obtain, the pink one I had to go for more drastic measures. Danny was kinda difficult, I had to find some way that would lure him here. Since he can sense any ghost around, I invented the SGE (Aka Systematic Ghost Enhancomatic) which can produce any ghost DNA I put in. And thanks to this ectoplasm, It was able to manufacture a ghost aroma as far as a 20 mile radius. And thus, lead him here. Spongebob, heh, was easy to convince since he was the nicest in our group. I told him that all of you were trapped in this place and he took my word for it without a second thought. Naive, but it worked in my favor nonetheless. As for Timmy, I wasn't expecting him to come here, along with my robotic companion. I tried to tell him I'm doing this for a better cause, but he wasn't having any of it." Jimmy sighed, "To think that they would understand. It's a shame that I had to put them both down. But you..."

*Gasp*

Y/n almost stumbled backward, now realizing how close Jimmy was. He lifted her head up by the chin to face him, leaving a little stain of ectoplasm on her skin. Y/n could see the dark bags under his now pinprick pupils. It filled her with undeniable trepidation. A hot tear ran down her cheek as he continued to stare at her.

"You do understand why I'm doing this? I'm trying to stop a disaster from ever happening. If you had seen it, decaying structures, the abandoned streets? I'm sure you would feel the same way." Jimmy ended with a grin that sends shivers down Y/n's spine. As he was speaking, his hand reached down in his pocket to take out the fairy wand.

"Don't worry, you'll understand soon enough."

"NO!" Y/n cried out, completely taking Jimmy aback by surprise as she leaped onto him. Knocking the wand out of his hands and pinning him to the ground, Leaving Jimmy stunned. The wand hit the ground causing its handle to snap.

"Jimmy! Please, you're better than this!" Y/n pleaded to him with teary eyes, holding him down.

With indignation, Jimmy had managed to get his legs free from underneath. Y/n yelped as she was pushed off with such force that her head hit the wall. She slumped to the ground, a trickle of blood trailed down her face. She barely managed to get up despite the affliction. Her hand reached for her head, throbbing from the impact. She was forced to ignore the pain as she managed to grab Jimmy's wrist just when he was about to strike her with the same scalpel he used on Timmy. Jimmy's hand reached at her only to end with the same result. He couldn't help but chuckle at her futile attempt against his strength.

"Try as you may, I'm not letting you get in the way of my plans. I don't want to hurt you, But if you continue to resist me I'll have no choice but to restrain you, Like that little furball I saw a few days ago."

Y/n froze.

"If I remember correctly I was looking for another test subject and that's when I saw it wondering about, sniffing around for something by our house nearby. I assume that one of you left the door cracked open for it to escape. I think it was...Calico?"

Y/n used all the strength she could muster to push Jimmy back. He was next to have his back hit against the wall which caused him to grunt in pain. they both barrel rolling across the floor until Jimmy manages to pin her down. He watched with glee as Y/n squirmed, trying to free herself from his grasp. She looked up at him, a stream of tears filling her eyes as she sobbed.

"Jimmy, please...Don't do this..." She whimpered, in the hopes of bringing back the friend she knew, who she had trusted. Her heart sank as Jimmy smiled maniacally. The scalpel edge closer to her.

Y/n closed her eyes, then opened them to show a weak smile. She chokes out a few words as a single tear fell from her cheek.

"You're all family to me."
