Before the world fell apart, Jayden Keene worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, also known as, the FBI. She lived near Quantico with her two daughters, Cassidy and Sydney. She was a single mother, trying to parent with a demanding job, but she did it. Life was never the best, but as long as she had her girls, everything was would be okay. She knew that.
She first heard about the zombie-making virus over a news cast while in the office, hearing that it had started spreading in the south of Florida and was making its way to other states. As soon as she got home that night, Jayden packed her children up, a fifteen-year-old and a nine-year-old, and they made their way to Brookhaven, Georgia, where Jayden's sister, Tessa, lived.
Jayden and Tessa had grown up in Brookhaven, but once she graduated, Jayden left the town with her daughter, Cassidy. Yes, she was a teen mother, but Cassie was the best thing to ever happen to Jayden. Tessa stayed in the town, not having kids yet, but she worked as a nurse at the hospital in Atlanta. Once they had collected Tessa, they set off toward the city of Atlanta, where almost everyone in Georgia was heading.
They had made it to the outside of the city when they saw the bombs and the fires. The Keene's set up camp near a quarry. They had two tents, Tessa could have her own while Jayden shared with her kids. They weren't expecting an entire group to find them up there, but two men came up the trail in the middle of the night, meeting Jayden's stubborn fifteen-year-old with a gun.
