The girl I imagine as Lila is up top. And yes, I know this is from The Maze Runned, but I think Kaya Scodelario looks like Lila would.😋^

10 years earlierA sparrow floated lazily on the breeze and perched on a slat of white fence that I could only see in my peripheral vision. Suddenly, something large and brown snuffed hot air onto me. I giggled and sat up.
"Watcha thinkin', Lexus? It's 'bout time to go back home, I guess."
The filly bobbed her head, seemingly in an affirmation to my statement. So we set off across the yellow-green carpeted fields towards the Big House. The barn, which lay directly behind it, was where I had to part with my best friend.
"I'll bring you an extra carrot tomorrow before they send you back to the track."
That filly got a carrot not just the next day, but every day after when she was retired to an injury. Growing up on a racehorse farm, you get used to some harsh realities of life pretty quickly.
Present Day
"Moooom, no!"
"Honey, this is a client we're talking about!"
"I don't want to meet another man in a suit who winks at me and slips me a business card when he thinks you're not looking!"
My mom finally gave up and left me alone. I really was not looking forward to meeting yet another potential buyer. They come and go quicker than the races do, I swear. I looked out my window at the sun setting over the newly-sprung-spring-green fields and sighed. Where were the days when I could lay in the grass and forget about the fact that the stablehands and horses were more my family than my parents?Whatever. That time is past. I thought.
Time for Logarithms!I couldn't focus though, so I went out so see Lexus. Her racing name was Look Sun, my 5 year old me had wanted a special name for her, and she was sleek and graceful like a Lexus (my dad owned one), and so the name was born.
My daily visits with Lexus and the stablehands were always the highlight of my day. I didn't have many friends, because living on a farm doesn't give you much time to do anything but work, sleep, eat, and do your other duties (homework). Although I did say I played 2 sports when people asked. I rode horses all the time, and when I didn't feel like riding, I ran around with the horses, so technically, I ran.
See, I'm boring you, aren't I? Well, this is the part of my life that should be interesting, but no one wants to hear about. Everyone is always asking, "Do you own a Kentucky Derby winner? What did your most expensive horse cost?". I suppose that's more interest than most people involved with horse racing are used to, though. Anyway, I digress. At 15, I really had a busy and sometimes fun life, but nothing to claim as my own. That is, until November 7.
