A sense of deja vu overwhelmed Carmin when she awoke for the second time and she barely got her head over the side of the bed before she puked all over Lucien's wood floors. He awoke the second she moved and was quick to grab her shoulder with one hand so she wouldn't fall forward. He used his other hand to hold back her hair, eyes narrowing in worry.
It was silent for a moment and Lucien quickly picked up Carmin, walking them towards his bathroom. Neither of them said a word as he helped her brush her teeth. Her hands were shaking, her eyes unfocused.
Lucien had so many questions for her but now was nowhere near the time. Lifting up the lawyer, he placed her on the bathroom counter, "Let me start the tap." He patted her thigh before walked towards the tub, bending down to put the plug in and turn on the water. When he stood back up and turned around, Carmin was gone.
"Cazzo." He muttered, running into his room. His hand barely grasped the door handle when he saw her on the ground by the right side of the bed trying to clean up the vomit with some paper towels from under the sink.
"Carmin..."
She didn't respond, Lucien didn't know what to say. She didn't let up the scrubbing, she was crying.
"Carmin, come on, don't worry about that right now."
She ignored him again, scrubbing harder, crying louder.
"Carmin-"
"Ila. Carmin was my last name, I had to- I had to change it when she died, my full name. Interpol believed whoever killed her would be after me."
Lucien nodded, "I know. Hannah spent a lot of time talking about you. She was so proud of you Carmin."
The lawyer let out a sob, dropping the gross paper towels onto the ground, "She was so scared when she called me. Carmin's are prideful, I'd ever heard my little sister so terrified. I didn't know what to do."
Lucien walks towards Carmin, "Come on cara, let's get you in the bath."
She stared at his outstretched hand for a moment and when it took too long for Lucien, he leaned down and picked her up again. "Please don't touch me-"
"I didn't kill Hannah. My family had nothing to do with it. Dante loved her so much."
Carmin shook her head, "I found her in your house Lucien." He placed her on the edge of the tub, a leaned down to be at eye level with her.
"No one in my mafia laid a hand on your sister."
Carmin shoved him back, "I found her body in your fucking room!" She was so angry, Lucien could feel his heart cry. It seemed the Carmin sisters never got a break from traumatic experiences. While he had become used to seeing Hannah cry, something about the beautiful woman crying in front of him made him feel resentful towards the world. Everyone consistently failed those girls, Lucien wasn't going to let that happen again.
Lucien cupped Carmins face, "I need you to listen to me when I tell you I never laid a hand on your sister. They left her in Dante's room, I don't know how you got in this mansion but when we arrived home we found her on the ground."
Carmin shook her head adamantly, "Then why was she in your room?"
Lucien sighed, "Dante and I switched rooms, he couldn't be in here without thinking of her."
Carmin sniffles, wiping her nose with the arm of her sweater, "I can't be in here without thinking of her." It was such a quiet statement but Lucien knew she meant it with all of her. So he was quick to pick her up and leave the room.
Except Dante was right by the door, ready to knock, "Oh shit you two got cozy, I was gone for two days." He joked, his smile dropping when he saw both their faces, "What's wrong?"
