I was on the way to my in-laws house when it happened. A car came screeching down the lane beside us, running from something, when it pushed us into the barriers on the side of the road. It was pushing us with so much force that the barriers broke. We went tumbling down the hill, I was screaming like a madman as Luke's head smashed against the dashboard. Everything went black, as did Luke, as his life force was sucked from him.
I woke to a beeping sound, there was white everywhere and everything smelled like bleach. I sat up and my head started spinning like I was on a roller coaster that was going round and round and round. Someone came rushing up to me saying something that I didn't catch, because I blacked out before I could hear it. Little did I know that my whole life was going to change on that one night.
I woke staring at the ceiling ready for a new day. Today my husband and I were going out for dinner with his parents. We were only newlyweds so we were still in the honeymoon stage. Then I heard a beeping and the bed was empty next to me. I sat up and looked around the room only to realise I didn't know where I was. There were wires and contraptions attached to me from all different directions. Someone wearing a white coat came up, he checked one of the boards beside me.
"Your vitals look good. How are you feeling?" He asked looking over at me. I sat there and looked at him.
"Where the hell am I" I yelled, at the what I was thinking was a doctor of some description.
"Do you have any memory of what happened over the past maybe year?"
"What on earth are you talking about of course I remember what happened, why wouldn't I, the most important parts of my life happened in the last year. I got married for goodness sakes. My science lab had a massive medical breakthrough, of course I'd remember." He started to write something down but I just ignored it.
"Well if you'll excuse me I need to go home and see my husband." I stated and started to get up.
"Woah, woah, woah where do you think your going" the doctor asked.
"Home, I just told you that" I stated
"No your not" he replied. I asked why and he started to explain.
"You got into a terrible car crash today last year and have been in a coma ever since". He started to explain.
"Oh my lord. Where's my husband. He was in the car with me. I have to see him." I started to break down.
"I'm afraid he didn't make it mam" the doctor replied. I sat there for hours and cried myself to sleep.I woke staring at the ceiling ready for a new day. Today my husband and I were going out for dinner with his parents. We were only newlyweds so we were still in the honeymoon stage. Then I heard a beeping and the bed was empty next to me. I sat up and looked around the room only to realise I didn't know where I was. There were wires and contraptions attached to me from all different directions...
"Ahh how are you feeling today Cindy," there was a man standing in front of me in a white dress-coat, looking at me like he's treated me my whole life.
"Who are you and where am I" I asked
He replied with four simple words that changed my life forever. And along came the other issues as well.
"Short term memory loss"
