The universe started out as a blank void, existing of nothing but two natural concepts that defined the state of being.

Light and Dark.

Creation and Destruction.

Peace and Chaos.

Yin and Yang.

The two opposing concepts were essential to any and all objects of existence.

Like all concepts, eventually they came to life in a coalescence of fate, developing a conscience and will albeit tied to their own godly natures.

Light was rooted in creation, peace, and life while Dark swam in the depths of destruction, hatred, and death. Both beings held no contempt for one another as their natures defined their actions as nothing more than their purpose in the blank universe. Yet through their natures a feud arose as they began to slowly expand the universe. Planet after planet. Star after star. Galaxy after Galaxy. Being after being.

Destruction became the end of Creation. Death became the end of Life. Chaos followed Peace.  Life came before death and death came after life.

Everything they created was conceptually against the other as their natures so dictated. Eons and eons passed of this endless feud between brothers, but one moment in the explosion of creation and destruction, the brothers examined their own natures and found that they had a bigger purpose for their own being. So they came to a covenant and ceased their own constructs through conversation and will. Through this time period, the universe stagnated and froze with nothing else being created nor destroyed. It simply was as it was meant to be.

More time passed and the Gods finalized their compromise. If Creation was the natural beginning of Destruction, then what would happen if the two concepts were combined to create a cycle?

When this hypothesis was tested, the two brothers were shocked to witness what their combined conceptual existences made.

Beings that were pure and creative yet had the capacity to cause death and destructive. They created life that ended in death, but was wrought with ever expanding light.

Humanity exploded from nothing but the culmination of light and dark. Beings of pure balance with two opposing forces culminating into equal forces.

Light bestowed the capacity to love and Dark bestowed the capacity to hate. Create and destroy. Live and die. Laugh and cry. Two sides to every feeling, emotion, thought.

However, the brothers could not comply cease their own concepts and combining their own powers was futile in the long run. At the end of the day, they were still opposite forces that would repel one another. Hence, the Brothers continued on.

Thus began the story of our Remnant, just a small speck in an infinitely expanding universe filled with mystical knowledge we may never truly know the truth of, written by men and women throughout history long forgotten.

One of those tales, written by a scholar lost in time, was the story of the God of Animals, a man who could shift between animal and human at will while retaining their aspects on his form.

A being full of both dark and light. There was no coalescence within his soul merely existence. An anomaly of the natural order. The tale spoke of him as a mediator, someone to focus on collecting the abnormal. Beings that slipped through the cracks. One of these populations, were creatures called the Faunus. Abnormally gifted with the presence of more Light than Dark attributed them with animalistic appendages that were the result of Light without Dark.
