𝒪nce upon a star.
A lovely girl with eyes as blue as the clearest sky, hair as dark as the soil beneath our feet, and as long as a vintage car window. Felt as lonely as a lost item in the lost and found.
"Dear Diary..." Esther Sammantha Lewis said aloud with her favorite green pen laying on her bed.
"I really wish Topaz hadn't left 60 moon rises ago. Topaz was the only person in the whole world who could truly keep clouds from forming and rainstorms from erupting. She understood every piece of sadden rainfall I had to give. She was like an angel from the gods that had been placed just for me...but was too good to stay."
Esther closed her book as the most caring woman with eyes as green as the luckiest clover, and hair as gold as the sun had stepped in with some biscuits with a tad bit of honey on them and Esther's favorite homemade lemon-sugar tea. Her name was Elaina Petal Lewis. Who was happily married to Jasper Lucas Lewis, a man who had a job for those in need. Mrs. Lewis had similar hair to her daughter Esther. This is where Esther got most of her looks from. She had planted a red kiss on Esther's left cheek.
"Hello, my dear rose petal." Mrs. Lewis said in a soft voice and put her treats beside Esther as Mrs. Lewis got cozy beside her. Rose petal was one of Esther's many nicknames in the Lewis humble home. It was given to her due to being Mrs. Lewis's favorite flower head. "How are we feeling on this beautiful sun full evening Rose petal?"
Esther let out a sigh as she ran her hands through her midnight hair. She did this when she wasn't really sure how to reply or was stressed. "It's nothing, Mother. Same as the last Quarters of the moon." She took a biscuit and ate it in silence while her mother had a worried look on her face. "I miss Amethyst as much as you miss her daughter. But they had to go back to Australia." Mrs. Lewis said as she poured Esther a cup of Lemon-Sugar tea in her favorite green tea cup and sat it on the tray with the other treats.
"But Mother, Topaz HATES the spiders there in Australia." Esther frowned as she sat down her biscuit and took a sip of the tea. "You know how she feels about spiders. Even though I don't mind the little eight-eyed creatures."
Esther and her Mother at the same time looked outside the window. They were like twins. They looked at a blue jay pass by the window. "We'll get you prepared for school soon, Rose petal. It'll be a ball here in England." Mrs. Lewis said as they both made eye contact. "But Mother. You know how hard it is for me to make friends here in England. How come we can't go to America instead?"
"You know why Rose petal dear, it can be dangerous. There can be a lot of negative and positive people. I know it's better to start school in your birthplace. Trust me, Mother knows. They hugged and Mrs. Lewis left the room with a smile as she softly closed the door.
Esther sighed. "I can't wait to have no friends again this ye-." Esther's movie moment came to a halt at the sound of the door creaking. It was her little sister Emma Jane Lewis. Who had just started the second grade. She was a shy girl, but she can get a little excited once in a while.
Esther loves her sister so much that if a shooting star came down to earth, she'd wish to be with her forever. Emma had greenish-blue eyes and was a brunette. A perfect mixture of their mother and father.
"Ettie. Can I lay with you...I feel alone." Emma said as she still was behind the cracked door. That was another one of Esther's nicknames in the Lewis humble home. "Aw Em, You know you can always come to her whenever you want. I really have nothing important to do, besides the role of being your big sister."
Esther smiled at Emma, Emma shyly smiled back. Esther opened her arms wide for a warm hug and Emma hesitated, lept into her arms causing Esther to fall back. They giggled and did what they would usually do. Play pretend, have a real tea party, and do each other's hair. But it all changed for the worst.
"Mrs. and Mr. Lewis. I'm not sure how long Emma will last from this so-called fever. It's getting mildly worse so she'll have to stay with us for a while." Local Dr. Alexander told the family of four. He was like a part of the family. Dr.make Esther's father agree for the girls to have matching "E" names. And if they had a boy "J" names.
"Ms. Esther, feel free to come help little Em with her homework. I know it's hard for you." Dr. Alexander frowned at Esther, she smiled, holding back tears. "I'll be ok without her this school year." Esther said. Alexander was there when Esther was born, then came Emma. He was the one to make Esther's father agree for the girls to have matching "E" names. And if they had a boy "J" names.
