The news blasted in the background of Alyssa's home as she began making breakfast for herself along with her parents as they have been trying to get ready for their own day at work. Alyssa danced to the music in her headphones turning up the music to feel the bass enter her body before her favorite part came on. As she began mixing the second batch of pancakes she felt someone behind her and dropped the batter on the floor cursing underneath her breath.

"I know you are not in my home cussing up in here."

Alyssa groaned and grabbed a wet washcloth to begin cleaning up the mess she had made. As she was wiping up the batter between the cracks over the worn down tiles she felt her headphones getting ripped off her head letting out a groan showing her agitation.

"I know you hear me, little girl. Making a mess in my home when you got your own what a damn shame." Alyssa's mom shook her head wiping off a bit of batter that splashed onto her scrubs with a napkin.

"Mom how can you get upset with me cussing when you do the same thing but worse?"  She threw the cloth back into the sink and grabbed her headphones back from her mother as she laughed. She gathered up some Tupperware and placed her mothers breakfast in for her to eat when she gets to work. Her mother gave her a kiss on the forehead as she grabbed the Tupperware from her putting it in her hefty bag filled with god knows what.

'Alyssa you truly are an angel. I don't know what I would do without you. I love you." Alyssa's mom kissed her again on the forehead as she faked disgust and began preparing a plate for her father as he walked into the kitchen.

"I love you too mom and you too dad I guess." As her father laughed grabbing his plate as her mother walked to the bowl on the table grabbing her keys yelling a goodbye heading to work. Alyssa began cleaning her mess up on the stove and counters as her dad began voicing his opinions on the news smacking his eggs in between his lips.

"I cannot believe all these folks wanna be looting and killing each other. What has this country turned into? Back in my day we wouldn't be acting a fool like this! A damn shame-Oh and Alyssa don't forget to put a payment down on your loan. I ain't gonna make up for you again this month!" Alyssa rolled her eyes and put her headphones back on clicking play on her rock playlist. She washed all the dishes making sure no food was on anything so her mother wouldn't have to worry about anything once she gets off her shift. She grabbed her bag then lined up with the trash can shooting her paper towel into it like a basketball and cheered as she made it in just barely. Kissing her father on the forehead and voicing how she will pay her bill on time she grabbed her keys from the bowl and walked out to her car to head to her apartment to pick up her best friend.

Alyssa started her car feeling the cold air pierce her skin causing her to jolt in shock, as she turned her car on and blasted the heat she turned on the radio sighing as she whined about not having a Bluetooth in her busted down Honda. As she began to gain heat she opened her phone and texted her group chat with her friends and a few random people only to see them spamming news about the riot and deaths. She responded back to them wondering why they were so worried over something that happens so often.

As she sent her text she threw her phone in her bag and began driving to her apartment. Switching stations she heard more talk over what's happening and groaned, getting annoyed over hearing the same thing over and over again. "What a fucking pain this is going to be forget in 2 weeks." Alyssa sped down the street thankful she didn't have to drive too far and turn into her complex disregarding the 15 mile speed limit on the sign in front of her.
