Emma
As we drove through the middle of nowhere to get to middle of nowhere, otherwise known as Emmondswood, I could have not predicted that in just span of next 8 hours my life will change irrevocably. To be honest, looking back there were clearly many signs that I looked straight in the face and ignored.
For instance, I remember thinking as my head lay on the car window and my eyes unfocused that it was a weird day. Don't get me wrong, life had never been better. My intended soon to be husband had allowed me to go to Emmondwoods and pursue my further education. We both knew the real reason though. It was my last attempt to give fate a helping hand and have it deliver me my soulmate. If I don't find him in the next year, I would be forced to marry James or as I liked to call him, J. So here I was filled with hope driving through the woods to get to the town, so why did I feel weird. Simple answer. "My uncle", Daren was in a happy mood. I was sure his face was missing the muscles needed to smile but today he had a smile so big on his face that it made me nauseous. He usually had a penchant to ruin anyone's day and the fact that he was my official babysitter for the duration of my stay should have been incentive enough for him to be even more miserable. He was not in any way related to me, he simply worked for J and was doing his bidding. So his usually sour disposition turning into sunshine rainbow was weird. It should have been my strike 1. Fist warning that I ignored.
As we entered the driveway, the wind picked up. Just like that the day turned dark and so very wet. We were forced to run with our dufflebags into the house leaving most of our luggage in the car to avoid getting drenched. Unpacking will have to wait.
"If you need to eat anything, there is food in kitchen. I'll be in my side of the house. Do not. I mean Do not disturb me unless you are getting murdered. I'm going to catch up on some sleep." Daren said before he disappeared somewhere in the house. His bag on his shoulders as he walked with a jump in his steps. Weird.
How lovely. I looked around. At least the house was not a mess. Not that I expected anything like that. J loved luxury and he always made sure where ever I went was nothing short of perfect. The guy was a literal lord. Vampire royalty. Anyways, the interior screamed old school, old castle vibes. My favorite kind of vibes so I felt right at home even from the start. Daren had visited the place a month before today to make sure everything was up to par. I made my way towards the room he had told me was mine and was surprised by how like my room in J's house it looked. A good thing.
After setting up my phone to charge, I took a shower and made myself comfortable on the bed. I was not really hungry so I decided to read a book on my phone. 30 minutes into reading, my window started banging due to the stormy weather outside. Now I don't know about you but that was a definite strike 2 for me. First day in a new house, stormy weather and banging windows was a creepily weird mixture but I was still oblivious to the impending destruction.
Groaning I got off the bed to shut the window. However, I came to a halt as my eyes met two glowing dots that seemed to be looking directly at me. I was unable to make out who or what it was due to the darkness. It didn't help that the woods behind the house provided extra cover. Strike 3.
My common sense took a little longer to catch up with my reality so after about 10 minutes of just staring at the two dots, I finally forced myself to shut the window. What a weird day I thought. If only I knew that it was only going to get worse from here.

Hiiiiiiiiiii. So this is my first novel that I have ever written for others to read. I hope you guys will stay with me on this journey. I will also love your feedback and thoughts on things. I plan to make this story as anguish filled, pinning filled and heartbreaking as possible. I will upload a new chapter every tuesday.
I don't plan to spend much time on editing this piece so fair warning there might be some inconsistencies.
