"Mya slow down, you've have enough."
It was only my fifth drink which means I was just starting to have some fun.
"We get it Lou your not drinking tonight don't try to take your frustrations out on me!"
She was quiet after that. She's just been in a pissy mood all night because she has a test tomorrow. Lou is usually the most outrageous and entertaining drunk I know so I don't know who she is to judge.
I turn to Tara and whisper "Lou needs to loosen up."
"You know how she gets about school."
I roll my eyes.
"FUCK YEA!" Lou screams.
"What?" I ask.
"Class was cancelled for tomorrow, someone get me a shot!" She says before running to the bar.
"This should be good," Tara says and smiles.
I look over and see Luke dancing with some guy he just met five minutes ago. This isn't even the first guy who's flirted with him tonight. There's just something so enchanting about him that in a room full of over two hundred people he's got half of them wrapped around his finger. It could be the fact that he's a 6'4 model like looking man with the sharpest cheekbones I've ever seen. I'd sleep with him and we're both gay.
"Tara..." I trail off before my eyes land on Tara who's halfway across the club trying to get to the circle of the dance floor.
"Not it!" Lou's boyfriend Jacob says from his spot on the couch.
"Fine, but when you need help carrying Lou back home done look at me."
Tara is my best friend I absolutely love her to death, but the girl can't dance to save her life. If I had to describe it to the best of my ability it would be a combination of the Macarena and the Cotton Eyed Joe trying to coexist while being completely off beat. As I shuffle through the crowd my eye catches Luke with yet another gorgeous man.
"TARA!" I yell.
She ignores me and keeps dancing. She seems really happy while dancing but I know she'd absolutely destroy me if I continued to let her drunken dance moves be the center of attention for a second longer.
"Tara I think your getting a call." I say.
"From who?"
"The only way to find out is if you answer it."
She sighs in defeat and walks back with me to the couch.
"You see you always get her to reel it back in record time." Jacob says with a grin on his face.
"What can I say it's a good given gift." I say as I hand Tara some water. By now she's already forgotten about the nonexistent phone call.
"SHOTS EVERYONE!" Lou says as she places about a dozen shots down in front of us.
"Yes please," I say.
"I'd like to dedicate this round to my history professor for getting sick and allowing me to be here tonight getting drunk with my friends," Lou says.
"Cheers," we all say before taking a shot.
"What the fuck taking shots without me I see." Luke says.
"We didn't want to interrupt the time you spend with your fans," Jacob says.
"What can I say I'm a man for the people." Luke replies before taking a shot.
"Luke honestly you need to tell your secret, I've been out here looking hotter than the Sahara dessert all night and haven't gotten hit on once, mean while you've attracted everyone including the straight guys." Tara says.
"I'd start by not going on the dance floor ever again," Luke mutters.
Tara has a look of shock on her face even though she knows it's the truth. I take another shot. I've lost count at this point of how many I've had.
"Mya how about you?" Tara asks.
"How about me what?"
"Have you had better luck than me tonight?" She asks.
"I've had a few people hit on me, but no one worth mentioning." I say.
"I don't even know why I bother asking."
I understand Tara's frustrations. She has the best of both world having an Italian dad and Korean mom. She has the turquoise eyes and tan skin from her dad. And the silky hair and almond eyes from her mom. Besides her looks she's confident and sure of what she wants and I think that's what intimidates men our age.
"Come on Tara let's go find you a one night stand." Luke says leading her to the other side to the club.
"Mya, you coming?" Tara asks.
"I think I'm gonna stay here with the shots."
She looks back and shrugs her shoulders. Even though I do love a good one night stand hunt it's about that point when Lou becomes a fun drunk and I'm excited to see that unfold. I watch as Lou sits on Jacobs lap and dances to the music. They met the first week of freshman year, it's now senior year and they've been going strong ever since. They're cute together but meeting someone you want to spend the rest of your life with your first year at college sound like my actual nightmare.
"I bet you five bucks I can drink these last few shots before you finish that half." Lou says turning to me."
"Let's be so for real." I say before accepting her challenge."
"On your marks get set...GO!" Jacob yells signaling for us to start.
Of course I win.
"I hate you," Lou says smirking as she hand me the five dollar bill.
"Who needs love when you have five dollars."
I don't remember much of what happened at the club after that but I do remember a conversation Tara and I had before disaster struck.
"LETS GO GET TATTOOS!" She yells to me over the music with a tall man I presume was her one night stand under her arm.
"LETS DO IT!"
We get the rest of our equally as drunk friends on board before exiting the club and heading to the closest open tattoo parlor.
