Had this idea after watching the movie.

This is a story for fun not profit.

I hope you enjoy reading along while we wait to see what Casey Jones will do next.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Casey laid on the jagged ground, unable to move, his mind focused on the idea that the dust and debris sprinkling over his face almost felt like raindrops. Or at least what he'd heard rain felt like. There hadn't been rain in New York for years, not since the Krang ripped open the sky. Not since they'd taken over and enslaved everyone. Turing everyone he loved, one by one, into mutant krang monsters. The three leaders watching the resistance slowly fail and lose hope.

Wait...

Why was he thinking like that? Master Leonardo always taught him to have hope, no matter how dark thinks seemed. But master Leonardo wasn't there. Not that Casey wished for his idol to see how badly he'd messed up. His first mission without his sensei's guidance and look where it had gotten him. His team lost to the krang troops, his body beaten and immobile, and the supplies destroyed.

A failure.

He didn't even have the strength to pull himself to his feet and get home. Back to what was left of the resistance. The worse part wasn't even that he was about to die alone deep in krang territory. It was what his loss would do to his sensei. Master Leonardo had already lost two of his brothers, Donatello and Raphael. Now he would lose his pupil too. Casey only wished he could send a message to his sensei and tell him it wasn't his master's fault, it was just his own carelessness that caused this mess. Part of him felt relieved that at least someone would be left to miss him at all. His mom died fighting the krang and all his friends met the same fate soon after in labour camps.

Noises in the distance pulled his back from his daze. Casey slowly craned his next back to look behind him. Tall silver shapes loomed close by. The krang. It would only be a matter of time before they locked onto him and finished the job. Casey still couldn't compel his body to move. Instead he squeezed his eyes shut, preparing himself for the inevitable end. Red shined past his eyelids. Any moment now it would be all over. But before he would be vaporized Casey felt someone grab his arm and a second later he was yanked to the side.

The sudden motion caused a new rush of pain to surface. Casey barley had time to register it before he was scooped upwards into someone's arms. Casey could hear the roar of frustration erupting from their krang pursuer as his rescuer took off running. Casey finally managed to pry his eyelids open and blink past the tears of pain that had flooded his vision. "Sensei?" He asked weakly, making out the turtle shape and blue scarf tangled around his neck.

"Hang in there Casey, I got you." Leonardo spoke down to him. Pulling Casey slightly closer as he fled further from the krang.

Casey felt a rush of relief which was quickly replaced with guilt as he tilted his head back over his sensei's shoulder, the bodies of his dead teammates growing smaller behind them. "I'm sorry. I failed sensei, I'm sorry!"

Leonardo readjusted Casey in his arms so he was faced forward again, "don't look back Casey."

Casey winced from the adjustment. Fresh tears forming. "I'm sorry! I wasn't ready, I should've listened to you."

Leonardo jumped out of the way just in time to miss another beam from the krang. Quickly shifting directions and bolting behind the cover of tall rock faces. He zigzagged the area at least five more times before feeling safe enough to slow to a walking pace. Leo found cover behind an old helicopter that had obviously crashed long ago and lowered Casey to the ground. Leo propped him up against the copter and checked his injuries. Even carrying him seemed to be agonizing.

"Can you bear it enough to make back to home base?" Leo asked. "It's not safe to stay here."

Casey didn't answer him, his gaze locked on the ground while his breathing spiraled into full on panic. Leo gripped his shoulders gently to try and steady him. "Casey remember to have hope, it's our greatest weapon."

"I failed, they're all dead because of me. I should've listened." Casey stuttered.

"You won't win every battle Casey. You lived to fight another day, that's what matters."

"Because of you." Casey replied, barley a whisper.

"And I will forever be grateful that I was able to make it to you in time. We'll find a way to make the krang pay for all that they've done. I promise you that."

Casey looked up at his sensei and after a moment nodded. "We'll do it for everyone we've lost."

"For everyone we've lost," Leo repeated.

Another scream of fury sounded from the krang boss searching for them. Distracted from the pain Casy could finally recognize the sound of the female krang. The one responsible for the death of his team. He wouldn't forget what she'd done. His team would be avenged.

But he never got that chance, because a week later he was forced to watch his sensei die as he fell through the time gate.
