A Shadow's Diamond

Chapter 1

Shadow looks out a window to watch Amy and Cream pick out flowers and make them into crowns. He turns away as he sees Sonic and Silver playing with cards. The grey and blue hedgehogs make his days worthwhile even though he hates to admit it, but they are entertaining. He smiles to himself as he closes his eyes. It has been silent since Sonic, him, and Silver have defeated Eggman and Infinite. He bets that Eggman is going to be trying to get new people to join his little evil group. Shadow opens his eyes to see that Sonic and Silver are staring at the tv. He turns his head to look at the tv as well to see that Eggman and Infinite have returned. This time they are broad casting whatever they are saying.

"Hello everyone, it is I, Dr. Eggman. You all might have thought that those 3 pesky hedgehogs have defeated me and Infinite but think not anymore." Eggman appears on the screen with a wide grin on his face.

Amy and Cream walk into the room as Amy drops the flower crowns, "Eggman."

Eggman leans back onto his seat, "As you all may know that trying to take over this planet with just me and Infinite is fair more than enough, but not enough."

"What is he trying to get at?" Silver says confused.

Eggman stands up and moves the camera onto a green hedgehog.

"Scourge?!" Everyone minus Shadow said in unison.

Scourge smirks.

Eggman turns the camera back toward him, "Now than, if Sonic and his pesky friends would like to try and defeat us, come and get us."

"This sounds like a trap." Silver says while looking over at Sonic.

Sonic crosses his arms and smiles, "Sounds like fun to have one of my rivals back."

Shadow watches Sonic and Silver talk amongst themselves as he turns to see the outside to see Scourge running up to the house. He jumps off his seat and goes straight to the door. He opens it up to see Scourge right outside of the house. Shadow stands up straight and crosses his arms, "What do you want?"

"Who is at the door?" Sonic screams.

Scourge leans against the doorframe, "Oh Shadow, I am here for a proposition."

"That is?"

Scourge takes out a piece of paper from his pocket, "It's about the Ark. If you would like to know more about it, you will have to join Eggman's side, but if you don't want to join us than..." He starts to rip the paper.

Shadow takes the paper from Scourge's hands, "Let me think about it."

Scourge takes back the paper, "You can only have this if you join us, but since you are thinking. You don't get to have this right yet." He puts the paper back into his pocket. He shrugs, "Let me tell you, Shadow. Being friends with Sonic and those guys might be more bothersome than you might think. I know how you are; you don't like it here. You want Maria ba-"

"Keep Maria's name out of your mouth." Shadow clenches his fists.

Scourge places his hands onto his hips, "I won't say her name if you join us. If you don't join us, I will keep on saying her name."

Sonic walks up to Shadow, "Earth to Shadow, who is at the door?" He sees Scourge, "You!"

Sonic runs at Scourge but is quickly stopped by Shadow. He turns his head towards the darker hedgehog, "What the hell man?!"

Shadow said while glaring at Sonic, "Leave this to me."

Sonic stops and stares at Shadow, "Huh?"

Shadow begins to walk towards Scourge, "Take me to Eggman."

Scourge nods and soon leads the way while Shadow follows him.

Silver walks over to the door, "Figured out who is at the door?"

Sonic turns to Silver, "We have to follow them."

Silver looks to see Shadow walking next to Scourge, "Ok."

Both hedgehogs run off to stay behind Scourge and Shadow while trying to figure out what is going on. They went far until they have found Eggman's base. No security robots were out, none of the cameras are on, nothing was happening.

Sonic said while hiding behind a bush, "Man, Eggman, you could have done better."

Silver pops his head out of the bush, "I see Shadow."

Sonic nods, "Fly us to the top of the building."

Silver begins to use his telekinesis and flies both him and Sonic up onto the building. They are able to sneak into the building through a vent and crawl through it until they have reached a vent that leads to where Shadow is.

Eggman looks up to see Shadow, "Ahh look who it is, Shadow the hedgehog."

"What is it that you want from me?"

"A simple request really, we give you information in exchange for your loyalty." Eggman says.

Shadow crosses his arms, "Not going to happen."

"Then you don't want the information." Eggman types something onto his keyboard and pops up a burned down lab.

Shadow turns to see the burned down lab, "What is this?"

"This is called Lab 4 from the Ark. It has burned down while some creatures were still contained in the lab." Eggman watches Shadow's every step.

Shadow walks up close to the screen, "I... I remember this slightly."

"You were modified to take out the people who hurt Maria and my grandfather. I didn't think that you would remember this." Eggman turns off the screen. He smirks, "Now than Shadow, what is your answer?"

Shadow turns towards Eggman, "You have my loyalty."
