Chapter Ten

Previously on the black's ace
Boy had turned into his kaiju form and starting to attack atlas until he suddenly stopped and junped off giving reece the time to pilot ace in front of atlas
Now:
Reece stood in ace's conpod having a stare down with the kaiju boy until boy charged forward towards ace and atlas
Reece: WELL COME ON YOU KAIJU SCUM!!
Boy started to attack ace but reece just piloted ace arms in the way of each attack to defend his conpod until reece landed a upper cut to boy sending him flying back
Hayley: DONT HURT HIM!
Mei: its him or reece i know which one i want!
Reece began to attack boy but stop moving when he heard shouting from atlas's comm link
Reece: what is happening in there
Mei: hayley is trying to make us stop you
Taylor: hayley back off alright we arent moving
Mei: yeah so forget it princess, REECE LOOK OUT
Reece turned ace conpod back to face boy just as he collided with the jeager knocking it off its feet and began hammering down on ace conpod
Reece:( grunting, panting) come on is that the best you've got kaiju freak
Ace: impacts are threatening hull integrity
Reece: alright that fuckin does ace activate right sword
Hayley: no! Reece, please
Just as reece lined the tip of ace sword up with boy's head something grabbed boy's arm and flung him away
Reece: argh i said i had......him
Reece stared into the red eyes of a kaiju jeager drone from the uprising war
Taylor: what's apex doing here?
Reece: apex?
Mei: who cares? He's trying to save reece and us
Hayley: not us. Boy.
Reece who had now raised ace onto one knee looked up as boy charged at the jeager drone now known as apex and caught boy out of mid air
Reece: you guys know this thing
Taylor: yeah he gave atlas this new arm
Reece: a kaiju helped you?
Taylor: yeah
Hayley: that scanning beam, he was using it last time to see our memories
Reece turned his head back to the scene in front of him and saw scanning beam aiming for boy's eyes
Reece: so is he trying to give them back?
Ace: its appears that is excatly what apex is attempting to do
Everyone watched on waiting to see the outcome as apex continued to attempt giving boy his memories back but eventually boy gave out a big roar and kicked his feet up knocking apex onto his back which caused reece to push atlas back so they were clear of the falling kaiju jeager drone
Reece: damn it, taylor!!
Taylor: boy, don't!
Reece: oh yeah tell a kaiju no ITS NOT A DAMN DOG TAYLOR!
Taylor: we need to pull them apart
Reece: way ahead of ya
Reece went to step forward but suddenly there was a small explosion behind ace's conpod and ace fell to his knees as he lost power
Mei: babe? You ok?
Reece: yeah but ace just lost power for some reason ace?
Ace: warning, cascade failure due to rhomboid servo damage
Reece: well shut it down and reset the damn thing
Ace: affirmative
Reece: taylor deal with boy befo........
The three aboard atlas watched ace's lights go dark before going to auxiliary power allowing reece to once again see out the conpid but still couldn't move
Reece: shit come on ace come on faster
On board atlas taylor, mei and hayley didnt move an inch as they just watching boy stomp away at apex's face before he caught the next incoming foot and threw him away from him and managed to stand up but he was leaking dangerous amounts of kaiju blue(kaiju blood)
Reece: come on! Come on, COME ON DAMN IT
But there was nothing he could do as boy once again attacked apex knocking him off his feet and began beating away at his face
Reece: why hasn't atlas moved!
Ace: it appears that taylor and mei have entered some sort of shock, this might be due to boy's uncharacteristic behaviour
Reece: do i have to do every damn thing in this black
Ace: system reset successful rhomboid servos back online
Reece: about time lets move old man
Reece charged ace forward and grabbed boy from behind holding him in place
Reece: apex! Ive got the slimy bastard so finish it
The atlas crew watched as apex got himself to his feet and once he grabbed boy's head he continued to give boy his memories back and after a while boy stop thrashing around and apex dropped to his knees and lost all signs of power so reece dropped the now calm kaiju boy back on his feet before dropping to one knee himself
Reece: that argh that was alot
Taylor: reece are you ok?
Reece: im ugh im fine just argh dandy
Ace: pilot due to extended periods of time in a ghost drift i calculate a 40 percent chance of death if no secondary pilot is achieved
Reece: ehh i'll be (pant) fine you( pant) said 40 percent (pant) chance of death( pant) right so i (pant) have another 60 percent that i (pant) wont die
Ace: with each ghost drift you do or every five hours you ghost drift you will slowly increase you chance of death by five percent
Mei: w..what are you saying?
Ace: if reece doesnt recieve a secondary pilot within the next three days he will die from the mental strain
Reece: i'll...be.......fine
Ace slowly toppled forward onto his front which caused panic within atlas conpod
Taylor: hayley switch with mei now!
Hayley: on it
Taylor: mei get to him
Mei quickly disenaged from atlas and climbed down from atlas to see kaiju boy tapping ace's conpod
Hayley: boy can you help mei up please
Boy looked from atlas to mei who pointed to ace's back and boy nodded and slowly lifted mei up so she could run to the conpod and once inside she saw just reece dangling in his restraints
Mei: reece? Reece! Come on speak to me! (Crying) Please? Don't leave me?
Ace: lifesigns are stable and holding but he's unconscious
Mei sniffled as she looked at her boyfriend dangling in his restriants
Taylor: mei? Mei do you read us? Is everything ok in there?
Mei: taylor he's ok just really worn out, ace deploy left pilot restraints
Ace: denied gyroscope off balance please return to balanced position
Mei: shit? Oh erm
Hayley: hold on mei we've gotcha
Mei grabbed ahold of reece as she felt the jeager being lifted back onto his feet thanks to atlas and kaiju boy
Ace: gyroscope balanced deploying secondary pilot restraints
Mei sighed in relief as the left hand restraints came down and she was quickly suited up
Ace: ending ghost drift protocal, activating pilot to pilot protocol
Mei closed her eyes as she once again felt her mind meld with reece and thanks to the suddenly jolt of the successful drift it brought reece back from his unconscious state
Reece: im awake! Im awake......mei? When did you get here?
Mei: when you scared me half to death as you fell unconscious
Reece: unconscious? Shit ace lifesign report?
Ace: lifesigns are strong and holding
Reece: drift strength
Ace: 99 percent this is due to both pilot being exhausted
Mei: yeah your telling us
Reece: taylor,hayley we've got the bol and are on the roll
Hayley: Oh thank god i thought we lost you
Reece: in all honesty princess i thought i did die but i couldn't leave you all in a cold reeceless world now could i
Taylor: well its good to see your still ok
Reece: ehh more or less, ohh apex he didnt make it
Taylor: no
Suddenly boy roared into the air after looking down at the now deceased kaiju jeager drone
Reece: for once i agree boy
Reece reached up and let ace's fog horn roar out across the barren wasteland of the desert
Reece: ahh i havent heard that sound in a while i kinda missed it
Hayley: apex did it, we have boy again, welcome back
Reece reached down and rubbed the top of kaiju boy's head with ace hand
Reece: yeah your lucky too those were some good fighting moves kid
Boy gave a small growl which caused the four to chuckle
Reece: so time to see what's around us, huh, ace what wrong with the scanner
Ace: exterior array has sustained damage
Taylor: you've got to have another way of tracking incoming kaiju, right?
Ace: negative
Mei: then we won't see anything coming at us
Ace: not from any distance, only what is visible through the visor
Mei: wait, the scout tank, Joel installed a scanner
Reece: then leta grab it and get out of here
Suddenly the air was filling with the sounds of a horn from the jeagers right
Mei: The Sisters! They're here!
Reece: which means kaiju arent far behind let's go
Taylor: boy! they're coming for us, we need to leave
here
Boy remained where he was and slowly reach a hand out to apex
Mei: please, boy, we have to hurry!
Reece and mei reached down to pick up the tank but stopped when theu noticed the two pile of rocks one for shane and the other for brina
Reece: as much as i hated you shane i suppose i have you to thank for keeping mei alive all this time
Taylor: im sorry mom
Reece: ace, how long before we reach syndey base id we run as fast as possible?
Ace: 17 hours, 48 minutes, 11 seconds, uninterrupted
Taylor: if we trade off, we can do this, right?
Mei: i know i can
Reece: hey
Mei: right sorry babe i know we can
Taylor: we'll be right behind you
Mei went to speak but she snapped her head over to reece as his thoughts came through the drift
Mei: do not say it reece im warning you
Hayley: say what?
Mei: dont!
Reece: oh ok fine
Mei sighed until......
Reece: JUST KIDDING JEAGERS LET'S ROCK AND ROLL
Mei: I TOLD YOU NOT TO SAY IT!!
So kaiju boy and the two jeagers began running across the landscape with conpods full of laughing and with those lost remembered in their memories
