The teenage experience

We go through the motions
Every morning visualizing the moment we will finally be in bed again
You wake up, slowly getting through the day
As the hours go by the anxiety and stress and expectations pile onto you
Our parents scolding us that we're lazy
They don't know we hate ourselves for it
They don't know we spend endless hours staring at our phone with jealousy and defeat
We watch people's best lives as we're going through our worst moments
The world is burning and the hate is easier to give than ever
So no... being a teenager isn't easy
Images assault us, screaming we're not good enough
Because the person we're watching is 17 and a millionaire
While we practice out smile in the mirror making sure it looks sincere
