A Shadow's Diamond

Chapter 3

Sonic opens up the door to Tails' house and enters the building. He is followed by Shadow and Silver while sitting down on the couch. He glares at Shadow, "Now what is it about this Lab 4?"

Shadow sits down in a chair while Silver sits next to Sonic, "I don't have all of my memories. All I know is that Lab 4 is something important to me and a fire happened in it."

"Lab 4?" Amy asks.

Silver looks at Amy, "We aren't sure much about it and we are as much confused as you are."

Amy walks over to Sonic and puts her hands onto her hips, "You are late. We had a date today."

"Never agreed in having a date today." Sonic says lazily.

Amy becomes frustrated, "We so did!"

Tails walks into the room while holding up a piece of equipment, "That's weird, I can't seem to be picking up any of the chaos emeralds."

Sonic looks over at Tails, "What do you mean?"

Tails goes over to Sonic and shows him. Nothing is appearing around the chaos emeralds and the screen is lighting up.

Sonic points at the screen, "It's glowing."

Tails looks down at it, "That's weird."

"Are we sure that it's not broken?"

"No, it's not, I literally just fixed it this morning." Tails walks away with it still in his hands.

Amy says, "Let's go Sonic, we have elsewhere to be at."

"Sorry Amy, but I have more important matters to attend too." Sonic stands up and runs out of the door.

Amy runs over to the door and yells out, "Sonic!!"

Shadow and Silver look at each other before looking away to watch Amy run after Sonic. They shake their heads before relaxing in their seats.

Silence begins to fill the room until Silver decides to say something, "What do you remember about your past?"

"I remember being there for Maria and later on getting revenge for Gerald Robotnik on those who killed him and Maria." Shadow says while staring at the white hedgehog.

Silver nods, "It must be weird in not knowing the rest of your past."

"I am perfectly fine with not knowing about my past, if anything, it would give me more of a headache to deal with than what I am already dealing with."

"Or depressed."

"What was that?" Shadow makes a chaos spear appear in his hand.

Silver swallows down air that is trapped in his throat, "N-Nothing!"

Shadow makes the spear disappear from his hand. He looks out the window to watch the wind make the grass blow in the direction that it's going in. He does wonder about Lab 4 and of the memories before he got trapped in the tube. Everything seems to be more confusing than it has ever before. What if Eggman has more information? Is he making a good decision in turning his back on Eggman? He doesn't want to deal with these thoughts anymore. Silver wouldn't be able to help him with his troubled past because he doesn't remember everything. Silver is from the future, not from the past. Shadow should return to the rummage of Eggman's base and look for information regarding Lab 4. That would help him find out more about his past memories.

Tails walks back into the room. He notices that Amy and Sonic are no longer in the room, "Is Amy and Sonic already on their date?"

Silver shakes his head, "No, Sonic ran out the door and Amy ran after him."

"And they left the door open!" Tails walks over to the door and closes it. He turns towards Silver and Shadow, "Well I have some information regarding the glowing."

"That is?" Silver asks concerned.

"Somehow a source powerful enough made it to where my device can't pick up the chaos emeralds." Tails shows a magenta color glow on the screen.

Silver and Shadow look at the screen.

Tails continues, "I believe that it's something or someone that we should investigate. Normally, I would send Sonic to go find out about this, but he isn't here."

Silver smiles at Tails, "Don't worry, we will be able to find out what is causing the machine to no longer be able to pick up the chaos emeralds."

Tails takes out a smaller machine, "Take this with you guys, it can be helpful."

Silver gets up from his seat and grabs the machine. He looks over at Shadow, "You ready to go see what is causing the glow?"

Shadow gets up from his seat, "Let's get this over with."

Tails says with a smile, "I believe in you guys."

Shadow begins to head out the door while Silver following him.

Silver waves at Tails, "Let Sonic know that we are finding out about the glow!"

"Gladly!" Tails says while watching the door close behind Silver. He says to himself, "At least they close the door." He turns away and walks back to his lab.
