It was an unusually chilly night. While most were already either leaving to go back to their dorms to their warm beds or meeting up with friends for a night out of fun, you were still at the campus library, stressing away. It seemed like the library was mostly vacant, due to it being extremely late. The only people who still remained were either great procrastinators like yourself and or students who wanted to be on top of their studies.
You take a quick glimpse up from your laptop after not being able to start your essay that you've been procrastinating on for days. Thankfully, you weren't alone in this suffering. Chaeyoung sat on the couch in front of you, gritting her teeth and running her hands through her hair, obviously on the verge of having a mental breakdown. Like her hair, her textbooks and drawing utensils were scattered out on the coffee table in a messy manner.
Art majors.
She was wearing grey sweatpants and a black tee shirt that hugged her body. It emphasized her body tremendously. Her puffer jacket hanging on the arm rest of the couch. How did she not freeze her ass off walking here.
The sight made you let out a small smile. This was a normal occurrence whenever you would do work with her. You enjoyed it though, it was weirdly attractive to see her let loose and see her thought process on an art piece.
"Shouldn't you be focusing on your essay?" she says in a snarky attitude.
"Yeah... I've got nothing still."
"Tell me about it," Chaeyoung says as she crumbles up another sketch and adds it to the pile of sketches that weren't good enough that sat on the table.
"I can't do this anymore," she lets out in a sigh, "I'm literally going to lose it."
Chaeyoung hastily grabs something from her jacket pocket and speeds to the nearest exit, leaving the library. You sat there alone. The work really got to her this time. The essay unfortunately wasn't getting any progress either so you got up and followed her.
There was this certain spot on campus where nobody really goes or knows about. It was a cool little hideout the two of you stumbled upon that had a semi-decent view of the city lights. Both of you went there a lot to catch a break from all of the madness that would happen. University life could get a little too much sometimes. If you weren't doing assignments then you had to do a project, if you weren't doing projects then you were studying for an exam, and if you weren't studying then.. god knows.. that was pretty rare to happen. It's very stressful to say the least.
Chaeyoung leaned against the rails on her elbows, hands on her cheeks. A lighted cigarette placed perfectly between her full lips. The smoke looked as if it were dancing back and forth because of the wind. You hated seeing her smoke, but you couldn't blame her. It was a way of relieving the stress, not the best and healthiest way, but it was a way nonetheless. Couldn't she pick up vaping or maybe even yoga?
You lean against the rail too.
If we were being honest though, she makes smoking look attractive.
"I don't think I'm going to pass this semester," she says.
"Don't say that, you were made for this."
"Pffttt.. how so?"
"Have you seen yourself? You have the whole wolf cut and tattoo thing going on."
It was cold. You take off your jacket and hang it on her shoulders.
She smiled.
Her smile is so pretty.
You take the cigarette from her lips and place it between yours, her expression changes to an annoyed look. Inhaling in and blowing the smoke out. The city looks so pretty at this time of night. The building lights, the sparse cars driving, the small restaurant light up signs. Everything.
"You know I don't like you seeing you smoke right?"
"Close your eyes. Just kidding. Well I picked it up from you. You basically put me onto it after all of this time. Thanks to you.. I was just curious one day and well.. here we are," said Chaeyoung playfully.
"What? Just because I do it doesn't mean you should do it," you said irritated. How could she try to put the blame on you? Chaeyoung had a habit of playing victim, saying it in a playful manner was her way of trying to make you take it lightly.
Chaeyoung sensed this tone in your voice.
"You know I hated it when you smoked too so I don't know why you're acting like this now," she exclaimed loud yet calmly.
You hated when she was right which was mostly all of the time yet you liked how she kept you in check. Chaeyoung could be a little much at times though. A small girl with a lot of fighting spirit.
It was quiet.
"How about this." Chaeyoung grabbed onto the cigarette and flicked it to the floor. She then reached into her jacket and threw the box away into the trash.
"Whenever we feel like lighting one up." She grabs your cheeks. There was a height difference between you. Not so much where you towered over her but it's to the point where you have to look a little down to make eye contact.
She presses her soft lips onto yours. It feels so warm and relaxing. You're melting into it by the second.
It tastes like a mix of ashtray and strawberries.
Chaeyoung pulls back from the kiss.
"We do that." she grins.
This might be more addicting.
