She had just moved to New York. Her father died a month ago and it was devestating, so her mother decided it would be nice to start again. New start, new life and new place. Since her Dad died, her whole world was a blur of black and white, little did she know that it would soon come true. She was petty, yet would take everything too seriously, especially her father's death, very soon, she began to express her depressed feelings by wearing only black and white.
She was mad at her mother for wanting to leave California so badly. It was almost as if she was okay with tossing all their memories with her dad in the trash. California was the only thing keeping her sanity intact, and the moment she left it so did her sanity.
Leaving California took a toll on her, leaving her very little, but nonetheless friends and memories of her father, her dam of bottled up emotions earned a small crack or leak, but the minute the bullying started, it quickly escalated into a flood, until there were no more emotions left.
The bullying wasn't just because of she possessed the behavior of a weird girl, it was also because she was new and poor. They were never rich to begin with and without the breadwinner was... Gone, her mother was working extra hours and she herself had a part-time job at a coffee shop as a waitress. Not to speak of the cost of their furniture, house, their flight here and her school fees, with her mother trying to seal all of these ends she didn't have enough time to seal the broken heart of her dear, only child McKayla Adkins.
