Becka!
I had to see her right away. I rode Rose fast, despite the pain in my shoulder. Across country, down hillside and then Rose tore through town. I pulled her up sharply and nearly fell to the ground when I jumped down.
"Will!" my Dad frowned at me from the porch.
"Where is Becka?" I panted.
"What happened to your shoulder?" my Mom stepped down a couple of the steps.
"It's fine," I panted and she pulled me close for a hug.
I leaned into her neck for a moment, then gently pulled back. "Where is she?" I smiled at her.
Mom's mouth dropped open and her chin trembled, "You remember." I could only nod. I couldn't tell her the truth; that I had remembered Becka, but was to stupid to realize that the baby she carried was mine. "Oh Will," she laughed through tears, "You remember everything now. Don't you?"
"Yes, Mom," I kissed her cheek and smiled. "Where's my Becka?"
She winced, "Take it easy, son. There's a lot of pain there."
"And I'll apologize for that," I looked around, "I have to find her."
"She's...," Mom pointed away, but I was already running down the street.
I ran to the house on the corner and tore open the gate. "Becka!" I called, "Becka, where are you?" I jogged up the sidewalk. She opened the screen and stepped out on the porch. I stopped in my tracks. "Becka," I whispered.
"What is it, Will?" she shook her head. "What happened to you?" she pointed at my shoulder. I slowly walked up the stairs and stopped on the third step. I smiled at her, my eyes even with hers. She stared into my eyes for a long moment and I could only smile. I loved her so much in that minute; more than I had loved anyone in my life. "Willa?" her voice trembled but I laughed, releasing a tear down my cheek. Her eyes blinked and she gasped, "Oh my God, what's wrong?"
"The baby is mine," I looked down, putting my hand on her stomach.
"Yes," she sighed, laying her hand on top of my hand.
"I'm so sorry I doubted you," I told her and her eyes locked with mine, "I'm so sorry. "
"How could you think it was anyone else's baby? I love you," she smiled as her tears fell.
"I was a fool. My head was so scrambled," I pulled her close, "I'm sorry.....so sorry. I know it sounds so pathetic."
"It sounds wonderful," she laughed and hugged me tight.
"Oh," I moaned, "I never want to let you go. I want to get married and be with you and our baby forever."
"That sounds REALLY wonderful," she laughed and smiled at me.
"The world has changed so much since I woke up, but my love for you will never change. I love you. You ARE my world!" I kissed her softly.
"And you're mine, Willa Mansi!" Becka laughed and deepened our kiss.
