Izabelah's POV

"I just don't know why you want to bring chili to a potluck." I told Elena, making my own thing for it, of sweet meats, which weren't even meat, they were sugar flowers, candied fruits and sugarplums. "Everybody brings chili. Which is why I am going for a Tudor delicacy."

"Hey, Ric." Dae smiled, seeing his best friend come into the room

He was so hung over. Nothing new there. "What's up?"

Elena glanced up from her chili pot. "What time do you want to go to the Lockwood party?"

"Ah. Those founders parties aren't really my thing." Join the club. I was currently an honourary member, seeing as I was already in on the secret, and I was apparently on my way to becoming a near enough Salvatore.

"Show up, there's going to be nine other people that brought chili. And, Izzi's made cake, and you need to try her cooking." Great, more people to taste the attrocity. I was much better when it came to cooking in an open fire...

"It's an old family recipe, okay?" Elena protested, and I smirked. Yeah, I tried it at the beginning, it still tasted gross.

"Yeah! I know. I knew your old family. They made sucky chili. As did Damon's, so don't worry." He made a sulky face and I couldn't help but kiss his bottom lip, biting on it softly, making him growl instead. Which made Alaric and Elena groan.

"Why are you both here, exactly?"

Dae shrugged, pulling onto his lap. "She knows."

"They think I'm going to break. I'm not going to break. I am just going to keep making chili, pretend like I didn't just spend the entire summer looking for someone who didn't want to be found."

"She's in denial. But at least she got to see the person she was searching for. Rosie was still MIA."

She lowered her voice to a whisper. "I'm not in denial."

"No?" I levitated the necklace on her chest. "You're still wearing this necklace. Isn't this the reminder of your unbreakable bond with Stefan? That necklace for you both, is the roses for Damon and I. We bonded over them, and now, it's a sign of how much we love each other."

I loaded up all my things into Dae's car, and then we were called by Liz, whom I wasn't all too happy with right now after shooting me in the boob with that tranq, but she needed our help.

"So Mayor Lockwood called your gay ex-husband to torture your vampire daughter?" I asked, trying to understand what she was saying. Poor Care, she was the best of the Vampire's, she'd only killed one person by accident, and that was brilliant.

"Yes. I've been keeping him detained to make sure the vervain's out of his system. So you could, you know..." She mimed compulsion.

Dae made a face. "Can't we just kill him?"

"No, Damon! He's Caroline's father."

"He sounds like a douche-bag to me." I pointed out, wiping yet more hair out of my eyes. This was getting ridiculous.

"Yeah, well, just 'cause you and I are on OK terms doesn't mean that I'm suddenly a big advocate for your "lifestyle." Or the fact that you're an immortal witch who somehow kicked through bullet proof glass." Liz reminded me, and I giggled a little.

"Is that what you told him when you two got divorced? Sorry, one of my best friends growing up was gay, I'm honestly not a prude or anything, love is love." I smiled, following them down the stairs.

"Double check him for vervain before you compel him." Who needed to do that?

We entered the cellar where Bill was tied to a chair and had duct tape on his mouth. Damon removed it. "You brought another two vampires into this?"
