Riley/Lucas's POV (flashback)
It was my first day at St. Pierre's Middle School and I didn't know very much about going to school for the first time. I was very nervous and was shy to step into the school. I didn't know what to expect or what to do.
"Hey, weirdo," a boy who was a bit bigger than I was. "Look at this wimpy one guys."
His group approached me and I grew scared. I was a bit smaller than the rest of the kids, and I recently was tested to get into 8th grade. I was just ten years old at the time, but the principal saw that I had a great potential. When I was left at home, I would always be reading and even encouraged my mother to start homeschooling me. I wanted to be better than my dad and show him that I was important (even though I never meet him). Now that I was at St. Pierre's I think actual school was a big mistake.
"Leave him alone, Garfield." a girl with braids said.
"It's Gar to you girly." He comes to her and tries to pull on her braids. It was an epic mistake when she grabbed his arm and flipped him over to the ground. The boys in his group and including Garfield were in shock and ran away.
I was still on the ground and I was scared out of my mind. I trembled and closed my eyes, I was awaiting the impact of her. The only thing that she did was grab my hand and pulled me up to my feet.
"Don't worry, cutie, you can be with me." she said. I blushed and smiled at her. I felt safe with her and she escorted me to the school's gates.
"What's your name?"I asked the girl.
"Gabriella Toussaint."She said.
She grabbed my hand and we entered the school, maybe this wasn't a bad idea. With one friend that was enough to start out with.
